David Furnish Shares Sweet Tribute to ‘Irrepressible Husband’ Elton John on His 77th Birthday: ‘Love You Forever’

Rocket Man himself is feeling all the love on his 77th birthday!

Elton John turned 77 on Monday, and his husband David Furnish shared a sweet tribute on Instagram to celebrate.

Furnish, 61, posted a fun picture of the music legend wearing his signature stylish sunglasses – these with rose gold lenses – and holding a miniature figurine of his head in his mouth. In the title, the director opened the story about how much he loves his partner with whom he has been living for more than three decades and his wife with whom he has been married for 10 years.

A timeline of Elton John and David Furnish’s relationship

John has had a lot to celebrate in recent months. Earlier in the year, he became one of the few celebrities to reach EGOT status — or to earn an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

He cemented his status by winning his first Emmy for Outstanding Live Variety Special for Elton John Live: Goodbye to Dodger Stadium on Disney+.

The musician then shared how thrilled he was with the achievement by posting a statement on Instagram. “We won an Emmy and I’m on cloud nine!! Receiving this recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone involved, and I’m so deeply grateful,” John shared in the lengthy caption.

After thanking those who participated in his Disney+ special, he added, “Honored to join the hallowed ranks of EGOT winners, here’s to the joy of music and the magic it brings to our lives!”

Just last week, the “Crocodile Rock” singer also received a coveted title from the Library of Congress when he and his longtime songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin, were awarded the Gershwin Award for Popular Song. Upon receiving the title, which recognizes their contributions to popular music, the two were honored with a tribute concert featuring Joni Mitchell, Maren Morris, Metallica, Annie Lennox and Brandi Carlile.
