Schools in Delhi remain closed till November 10
Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi Education Minister Atishi has announced that schools in Delhi will remain closed till November 10, 2023. This decision has been taken as the Air Quality Index (AQI) is deteriorating in Delhi-NCR. For grades 6 to 12, schools are given the option to switch to online classes if they wish.
Earlier, the Delhi government ordered the closure of primary schools on November 3 and 4 due to rising pollution levels, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday.

Air pollution in Delhi
The announcement comes even as pollution levels have once again reached the “strong plus” category in the capital due to unfavorable wind conditions, particularly light winds overnight. Delhi’s pollution level reached the severe plus category, as the air quality index worsened from 415 at 4 pm on Saturday to 460 by 7 am on Sunday.
A forecast issued by the Air Quality Early Warning System on Saturday said the AQI was likely to remain ‘severe’ until November 7. Air quality in Delhi-NCR has plummeted over the past week due to plummeting temperatures, stagnant winds that have choked the spread of pollution and an increase in post-harvest stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana.
According to the air pollution control centre, all emergency measures, including a ban on polluting trucks, four-wheeler commercial vehicles and all types of construction, must be initiated and implemented in NCR if the AQI crosses the 450 mark.
