Officers with riot shields rushed to Cornwall Close and stormed the property after receiving frantic calls about a “critical incident”.

Angeline, named locally and pictured, could not be saved and the two XL Bully dogs, who were at the center of 13 fatal attacks in less than three years, were seized by officers.

The beautician – known to friends as Angel – was discovered by her devastated sons lying in her hallway after being attacked.

A close family member said he feared Angelina had been dead for many hours before she was discovered.

He told The Sun: “We miss her, she was honest and everyone loved her.

“We asked her to get rid of the dogs. The bond with the owners and their dogs is too strong.”

He said: “She had two dogs when they were puppies. They were registered. It is more likely that one of them attacked her.

“We are just shocked. You hear about these attacks in the newspapers, but you never expect it to happen to your family.

“Her sons are the ones who raised the alarm. They tried to do CPR to save her.

“We miss Angelina, she was an honest woman with a good heart.

“I told her many times to get rid of the dogs. This is an aggressive breed. She had them from puppies.

“We all read about the attack in Jaywick and it scared us.

“She had many dogs over the years. It’s hard to pay attention to them. The dogs took up a lot of her time, they took away her freedom.

“She kept them in cages in one of the rooms.

“The whole family is distraught over this, her sons are devastated. Angelina was loved by everyone.”

Close neighbors say the victim lived alone, but was regularly visited by her two sons.

One local resident said: “The dogs would bark all the time, we were all aware of them.

“We could hear some commotion and when I looked outside, one of the lady’s sons was crying.

“He looked devastated. It was horrible to watch. They called the police because they arrived really quickly.

“The paramedics arrived with the police and started CPR on her.

“About three hours later we were evacuated and had to stand outside the cordon.”

A horrified grandmother has told how she saw medics desperately performing CPR on her neighbor – before officers evacuated local residents.

The woman, 72, told The Sun: “I’ve never seen so many police and paramedics. It was terrifying.

“I went outside to see what was going on, and they were doing chest compressions on a lady on the floor in front of her house.

“The police asked us to go back inside. About an hour later, the police came and asked us to evacuate. We were all taken to the edge of the cordon and had to wait.

“It was really horrible. Requiring dogs to be registered is simply not enough to stop this, more needs to be done.”

Other neighbors have now told how horrified they were after hearing about the bullying, calling it “appalling”.

One, who did not want to be named, told the Mirror: “The dogs weren’t killed, they took them away.

“The vans have been going back and forth non-stop since lunchtime and we saw the helicopter coming and you assume the worst.

“Champion [a nearby school and sixth form college] it’s not far from here so you panic that it’s children or something.

“You never think a dog would do that. It’s horrible.”

The police remained at the scene this morning, and the blue tent was still standing in the garden in front of the house.

A sticker on the window of the house read: “Don’t worry about the dog, watch out for the children.”

Meanwhile, mother-of-one Sejal Solanki, 37, who lives in Cornwall Close, said she saw a woman walking an XL thug without a muzzle outside the victim’s house last week.

She told The Sun: “Last night I could hear dogs barking and then the whole road was full of police cars.

“About a week ago I was with my son and I saw an XL thug being walked by a woman in front of that house. He had no muzzle.

“I explained to my seven-year-old son that it is a dangerous dog and that he should never pet that dog. I told him never to approach him.

“Many children pass here to get to school and there are always children playing here.

“The fact that those dogs did that to her. Can you imagine if it came out and children were playing in the street.
