Jeremy Renner has full faith in his beloved San Francisco 49ers!
The actor, 53, is a die-hard Niners fan — and after an incredible comeback win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, he’s ready to watch his team take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.
“I’m anxious about it,” Renner told PEOPLE in January about the Niners’ chances of winning the Super Bowl. “This is a very good opportunity for us, we have a great team and we are healthy. So, unlike last year, [when] everything fell apart for us, which is heartbreaking.”
The team’s 2022 season, notable for rookie quarterback Brock Purdy’s breakout season, led to the playoffs, although they were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship due to various player injuries.
However, things have turned around now, and Renner, who is starring in this year’s Super Bowl ad for Silk, said he’s all for the 49ers winning.
“It’s good to have a team you root for like the Niners, man. It’s pretty great,” he said. “I don’t have a plan B. There is no such thing as a plan B. That means you plan to fail. It’s the same thing in my career — I never planned to do anything else. I always thought that was a plan for failure, I guess.”

Jeremy Renner Says Filming His Silk Super Bowl Ad With Daughter Ava Was ‘Beacon Of Hope’ After Accident (Exclusive)
He continued: “There is no such thing as failure, and so is recovery. It’s like I planned to die. I’m better, you know what I mean? That’s just some attitude I have. So with the Niners, they won’t lose. You don’t have to plan it.”
Although Renner is currently in Pittsburgh filming the third season of his Paramount+ thriller The mayor of Kingstown, has tentative plans to go to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take part in the big game in person. (Renner lives in Washoe County, Nevada, but is from Modesto, California, which is about two hours west of San Francisco.)
“It’s the weekend, so when the Niners come on … I’ll definitely have to go to that,” he said. “And it’s in Vegas, so it should be easy enough to get to, I guess. Yeah, I’d have to go for it.”
Renner is set to appear on screen during the Super Bowl via his Silk ad, which features him belting out James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” while making breakfast for his 10-year-old daughter, Ava.

PEOPLE caught up with the star on the set of the “Feel Planty Good” commercial in Los Angeles in early January, and he explained why he was excited to have the opportunity to publicly declare his physical fitness after his snowplow accident in 2023 with Ava by his side.
“It’s a beacon of hope for me and my daughter, and this is a new part of our journey together in recovery and in life,” he said.
He added: “Getting back into life in a different way, getting out of the hospital bed, getting out of the house, being social, just doing normal things. It means a lot to me and I’m very grateful to be here to do this.”
