Disneyland’s First-Ever World of Frozen Opens Up Its Gates in Hong Kong — See the Magical Photos!

Finally, they open the doors – to Disneyland’s first World of Frozen!

In the new land at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, which opened to the public on Monday, fans of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven can immerse themselves in the magical world of Arendella and experience three new attractions.

Two new rides in the country, located on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island, include Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleigh, a slide adventure through the Arendelle Forest and Frozen Ever After, a boat ride to Elsa’s ice palace as characters from the film sing songs including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, “For the First Time in Forever” and, of course, “Let It Go.” (The latter attraction previously opened at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park in June 2016.)

“The world of Frozen represents Hong Kong Disneyland’s largest and boldest expansion since it opened in 2005,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Experiences, according to a Hong Kong Disneyland Resort press release.

“Our theme parks are always growing and evolving with new stories and experiences, and it’s exciting to bring all these new worlds to life for our guests,” he added. “As Walt Disney said, ‘Disneyland will never be finished as long as there is imagination left in the world’. At Disney Experiences, the possibilities are endless.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lee, FrozenThe creator and co-director told USA Today that she felt like she was actually in the fictional Arendelle when she visited the country.

“It looks like it’s in the fjords and it’s built into the natural landscape in Hong Kong. And it’s so amazing, but it’s also emotional,” she said. “For those of us who worked on the film, we were a part of every detail, and the Imagineers took every detail and made it real. There’s even a funny jar of lutefisk we had a meeting about at Oaken’s Trading Post.”

“I’m still so emotional and so grateful that Disney decided this deserved a country,” Lee added.

Last week, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that a Frozen 4 was in the works, nine months after the announcement of the upcoming third Frozen movie.

While talking to Good morning America co-hosted by Michael Strahan of World of Frozen in Hong Kong on Thursday, Iger said, “I’m going to give you a little surprise, Michael: Frozen 3 is in the works there as well power to be a Frozen 4 also in the works.”

“I don’t have much to say about those movies right now,” continued the director, 72. “But Jenn Lee, who created Frozen – Original Frozen and Frozen 2 — is working hard with his team at Disney Animation on not one, but actually two stories.”

Opening World of Frozen comes as the film franchise celebrates 10 years since the release of the first film in November 2013. Frozen and Frozen 2 (2019) earned a total of $2.73 billion at the worldwide box office.
