Blood feuds in the upcoming season The Real Housewives of New Jersey affected Dolores Catania in ways she did not expect.
While speaking with PEOPLE at BravoCon 2023 over the weekend, the 52-year-old reality star explained why filming Season 14 of the hit Bravo show was especially difficult this year.
“It’s so crazy, it’s crazy. It’s a lot. It was even a lot for me,” she admitted, noting that she’s not usually the type of person to ever get emotional. “You didn’t see it coming. I’m actually not going to tell anyone, but there was a moment when I got a little choked up once.”

“The hate that I saw, the hard feelings that I saw and the fighting was so deep, so deep,” she continued, seemingly alluding to the drama between housewives and sisters-in-law Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorgo.
“I want what we had in Ireland,” she added, referring to the cast’s Season 13 trip to Dublin, before joking, “I call it the last supper.”

The Complete Timeline of Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga’s Feud
As fans know, last season of the show RHONJ it was heavily focused on the Gorgo/Giudice family feud. Years of misunderstandings and business dealings between Giudice’s now-husband Luis “Louie” Ruelas and her brother Joe Gorga have put a strain on their relationship. Despite their attempts to mend their relationship, the rift between them only grew as the season progressed.
Later in the season, Giudice, 51, and Ruelas, 48, met with Joe behind Melissa’s back to tell him about rumors of her infidelity — claims Melissa called “baseless” and vehemently denied. In the end, Joe and Melissa decided not to attend Giudice and Ruelas’ wedding after things reached a breaking point.
Even with the reunion, things didn’t get better. Filmed in April, the three-part special included plenty of name-calling. While the Gorges both offered hope of reconciling their broken relationships, Giudice made it clear that she never plans to see them again.

Melissa, 44, spoke about the ongoing drama at BravoCon, saying she has no regrets about cutting Giudice and Ruelas out of her life.
“I’ve come to a point in my life where, you know, you can try, you can try, you can try, but at some point you have to protect your peace and you have to create a boundary and I think that’s who I am and that’s what we do,” she explained. is during the first part RHONJ panel on Saturday. “I mean, you know, when something’s really toxic and it’s not working for you and it makes you uncomfortable, you don’t need to force yourself to be around it. It’s okay to let something go. I’m protecting my peace.”

When asked by host Jerry O’Connell how their lack of communication would change things for season 14, Melissa said, “It’s very different from last season… because there’s not a lot of communication so I think it’s different and better.”
“I think the fans will feel refreshed, too. I mean, aren’t you bored?” she asked the crowd, who cheered. “There’s so much to describe right now, but I think everybody knows where we are. Everybody’s reading it. I think, like I said, it’s in a place of peace. I think everybody needs a minute. Everybody needs a break and right now it’s just a point.”

Joe, 43, was also asked about family tensions during the panel, with one fan asking him why he thought his sister kept fighting with them.
In response, Joe simply said, “I’ll always say I’m a brother and I’m a man, and I’d really like the family to come together. What I want is the best. I have two parents in heaven and I’d love for us to come together.”

Giudice, however, had a different take on the situation. Asked during Sunday RHONJ second part of the panel on whether she would reconcile with her brother, Giudice said, “Look, my parents aren’t here anymore. So no.”
“First and foremost, I live this journey and I’m all about family, respect and trust,” she continued. “I’m sorry. That chapter with my brother is sadly closed. It really is.”
