Donna Kelce on Her 'Awesome' Acting Debut on Hallmark — and the Sweet Reaction from Her Grandkids (Exclusive)

Donna Kelce talks about her experience as an actress.

On Friday, Nov. 29, PEOPLE caught up with Donna at Arrowhead Stadium as she watched her son Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Las Vegas Raiders.

When asked about her acting debut in Hallmark Channel movies Christmas on callwhich was set up in Philadelphia, i Holiday Touchdown: The Chiefs’ Love Storyset in Kansas City, Donna, 72, says it was “so awesome.”

“There were so many fantastic Hallmark veterans and I really enjoyed learning from all of them,” she says.

“It’s so much fun for them to film in Kansas City for the first time and be in the stadium that I’ve been here for 11 years,” she adds. “So it was really fun.”

Donna also says her grandchildren couldn’t get enough of looking at her inside Christmas on call: “[They] repeated, ‘Let go again, let go! We want to see DeeDee!’ So that was fun.”

She and her ex-husband Ed have three grandchildren, Jason and his wife Kylie McDevitt’s three daughters Kelce, Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett.

A festive touch follows the love story between the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement (Tyler Hynes) and one of the team’s super fans (Hunter King). Donna plays the manager of a barbecue restaurant, who can be seen giving advice in the trailer.

Days after Donna finished her scenes, King and Hynes spoke to PEOPLE on set and got over the warm presence of the Kelce matriarchy.

“She’s so sweet,” King said. “Such a doll and simply, it was like having a mother.”

Hynes agreed and revealed that Donna had asked them to write her son Travis, 35, a note to put in a locker because they were filming at the stadium.

“I wrote the lyrics to ‘Friends in Low Places,'” Hynes said. “And I said, ‘Don’t ever change.'”

“I think I wrote something like, ‘Thanks for letting us steal your field and your mom,'” King added.

In addition to Donna, Hynes and King, the film also has an impressive cast of stars and cameos: Jenna Bush Hager, Diedrich Bader, Megyn Price, Richard Riehle, Christine Ebersole, Richard Christie and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, along with a handful of Kansas City Chiefs players.
