Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead Trailer: See Simone Joy Jones and Nicole Richie in Remake

Get ready for more nanny drama.

On Wednesday, the first teaser for Don’t tell mom the babysitter is dead debuted, a reimagining of the 1991 film of the same name. The R-rated comedy was written by Chuck Hayward (Ted Lasso, WandaVision) directed by Wade Allain-Marcus.

Simone Joy Jones takes over the role previously played by Christina Applegate.

The cast also includes Nicole Richie, June Squibb, Donielle Tremaine Hensley, Jermaine Fowler and Mrs. Pat, plus newcomers Miles Fowler, Iantha Richardson, Gus Kenworthy and Tyriq Withers.

According to the synopsis, Jones plays Tanya Crandell, a 17-year-old who “can’t wait to spend the summer with her friends in Spain before going to Howard University in the fall.”

“But when her mom decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is instead forced to stay home with her three siblings. After the unexpected death of their elderly nanny (played by June Squibb), Tanya gets a job as a confident and the ambitious Rose (Richie).”
