Dorinda Medley Reveals Her Favorite Christmas Decorations: 'It's Not Really the Holidays Without Them'

“There are so many good ones,” the Bravo star tells PEOPLE exclusively

The title of Queen of Christmas is up for debate, but Dorinda Medley is undoubtedly the Queen of Christmas Decorating.

The reality star, 59, is known for going all out when decorating the hallways of her Berkshires home, Blue Stone Manor, which we saw during her time on The Real Housewives of New York. So it’s no surprise that he struggles to pick a favorite.

“There are so many good ones, how can we get just one out?” Medley asks PEOPLE as she promotes her appearance on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacywhich is now airing on Peacock.

Still, Medley points out some classic ornaments she’s acquired over the years, including a dove ornament her mother gave her when she was 18. “I always take it out and put it on the tree,” she says. “Remember when they used to put dates on the ornaments the year you got them? I got a dove in ’81 or something. So it’s not really the holidays without it.”

“But I also really, really love my wreaths that I put up. I’m a big wreath person and I think that just means to me that the holidays are here — welcome wreaths,” adds Medley. “And I think my gingerbread houses are pretty awesome. And I like my dancing Santa.” Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

RHONJ The trip was canceled after the Berkshires place burned down (and they were going to visit Blue Stone Castle too!)

This year, Medley explains that she didn’t decorate her iconic East Coast residence for the holidays as early as she usually does.

“I didn’t put up my Christmas decorations at Blue Stone Manor as early as I usually do this year. I didn’t put them up until the second weekend in December,” she says. “Can you imagine? That’s a disappointment.”

“I wasn’t in the Berkshires to do it at all, I was so crazy in the city, and I just didn’t have time,” Medley continues. “But I hired five people to come help me do it all. That’s how many people it takes.”

The Bravo star adds, “I’m not putting up just one tree, I’m putting up multiple trees. So it takes a village — a literal Christmas village!”

Dorinda Medley says she believes the ghost of her late husband Richard roams the halls of Blue Stone Castle

And while Blue Stone Manor may be dear to her – and RHONY fans alike — Medley tells PEOPLE she doesn’t see herself owning the residence for the rest of her life.

“I never thought I’d keep Blue Stone Manor as long as I have,” she admits. “After [my late husband] Richard passed, I was confident that I would sell it. My mother said: ‘Wait a year! Don’t do anything when you’re in this state.’ So I really thought I’d get rid of him, because to me, Blue Stone Manor was something I bought with Richard and a place where Richard could retire. I never thought I would live here alone. I just didn’t see a place for it in my everyday life after his death.”

“The fact that this is an amazing life now, 11 years later since Richard is gone, has been a real blessing,” Medley continues. “I think, Architectural Digest he just named it one of the ’12 houses that are as legendary as their famous owners’ — which I was really excited about — and we sold out of tickets for fans to come see it in just 3 minutes.”

“Bravo viewers actually accepted him thanks to him RHONY and RHUGT“, she adds. “It really is the ‘Disneyland Housewife’. ”
