Downing tequila, falling into bed fully clothed then calling in sick to Man Utd… inside Marcus Rashford's 12-hour bender

MARCUS Rashford went on a 12-hour tequila bender before passing out at 3am and then calling in sick hours later.

The Manchester United forward, 26, was ruled out of last Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Newport County after missing training after two days of drinking in Belfast.

A barmaid who joined the Manchester United ace on a drinks bender told last night how he was “on a drinking mission”.

She said the spat-on attacker drank shots of tequila and cocktails before collapsing fully clothed on his hotel bed just before 3am.

Rashford spent two days partying during a visit to Belfast to see a friend, returning to Manchester on a private jet at 7am on Friday.

But then he called in sick in training and was later fined £650,000 — two weeks’ wages — and crashed out of the FA Cup at Newport County last Sunday.

He was pictured yesterday morning arriving at training ahead of talks with United bosses.

Belfast waitress Sarah Adair (30) last night told how she served the footballer lunch before he invited her to party with him.

She claimed they then had a “weird” night out which ended with her having to put him to bed after he drunkenly dropped huge wads of cash on the floor.

Sarah said: “I’m not surprised he missed training the next day given how late he went to bed and how much he had to drink. He must have known he wouldn’t be in any condition to play football.”

The mum-of-one was working on Thursday afternoon when a team of two security guards walked in and requested a discreet table for a “high-profile” VIP party.

At first, Sarah thought it might be a famous actor like James Nesbitt or Jamie Dornan because the city is a hotbed for filmmaking.

When Rashford walked in, she didn’t recognize him and only realized he was a footballer when her United-mad manager told her.

She said: “He was with two men and two women. One was obviously a friend and the other was French and very beautiful.

“She seemed to be with Marcus because of how they interacted. She was touching his knee, and he was touching her hand, but it was clear from the conversation that they didn’t know each other that well. It was as if he had just met her.”

Earlier, Rashford visited Larne FC after his footballer friend Ro-Shaun Williams signed for the Northern Irish club.

As Sarah served the group, Rashford also shared how he had visited the Dirty Onion bar and Lavery’s pub the night before after flying into town.

He ordered sea bass and then asked her where it was good to go out and added: “You should go out with us and show us around.”

Meanwhile, Sarah’s manager politely asked Rashford’s guards if he could take a picture with him, but they refused because he was on a “business trip”. They also refused Sara’s request to sign an autograph for her uncle.

Sarah said Rashford didn’t touch his food and was more interested in what tequila was on offer as he and his friends sipped glasses and drank cocktails.

He eventually relented on his picture ban and posed for the shoot, as long as Sara’s manager let her leave early so she could join them later.

Sarah said: “I thought he was joking. My boss agreed.”

She continued: “I’ve never dated a Premier League footballer before so I thought, ‘Why not?’. I didn’t even know how weird that would be.”

Before leaving, Rashford asked Sarah if she knew of any nightclubs that would stay open past the usual closing time of 3am if she paid them enough cash.

She said: “That made it clear to me that he had already decided he wasn’t going to train on Friday. He wasn’t planning on going home that night.”

Sarah finished her shift earlier at 5pm and went home before returning to the city center around 7pm.

She texted Rashford’s bodyguard as arranged, but was left sitting alone in the bar for almost three hours before the Mercedes van pulled up at 9.40pm and the security guard collected her.

They asked her to hand over her phone and not reveal who she was with or where she was going, although she was allowed to tell her mother.

The taxi took Sara to the Villa Italia restaurant where Rashford was with his entourage and two other local women who had also been invited out.

Sarah said Rashford booked the top floor and brought his own Bluetooth speaker so he could play his favorite rap music.

He was dressed all in white with a diamond watch on each wrist, along with six or seven silver diamond chains and two diamond rings. He also had two identical iPhones on the table.

She said Rashford also brought his own bottle of tequila. Sarah recalled: “I pulled up a chair and sat next to him and we all chatted.

“Marcus was confident, but he also seemed a bit shy. It’s like he doesn’t really know who he is. He gives off a vibe and thinks, ‘I’m a footballer, I’ve got loads of money and I can do whatever I want’. His friends treated him like a god.”

Sarah said Rashford ordered bruschetta but didn’t even touch it because he doesn’t like tomatoes with seeds.

She said the star, who only ate bread, told her: “I’ve been drinking all day.”

Sarah added: “They were still drinking tequila and passing a bottle of Patron and he also ordered a round of limoncello. He was clearly on a mission to get drunk.”

She said one of Rashford’s friends reminded him he had training in the morning, but the player said he wanted to go out.

When one of the girls mentioned Thompson’s Garage nightclub as a place to visit, Rashford asked if they thought the DJ would let him play his own music.

After the dinner ended, the group split into girls and boys and traveled in separate cars to Thompson’s, where the clubbers filmed the moment Rashford arrived.

The group then headed to a private space called The Attic and ordered more drinks. Rashford and the French woman were later rumored to have fallen out after she accused him of kissing another woman.

Sarah told The Sun: “She said to me: ‘I’m so angry because he thinks he can do whatever he wants’.”

Last night a source close to Rashford insisted the striker left the club at 1.15am.

But Sarah says the group partied until just after 2am when Rashford’s friends and security decided the footballer was too drunk and needed to go to bed.

As they all left, another member of the club filmed Rashford leaving and the security guard was heard telling them: “You’re going to get him in trouble.”

The group then returned to the five-star Fitzwilliam Hotel where Rashford stayed in a £1,500-a-night suite.

Sarah went upstairs with the others, but his French friend could be heard shouting and trying to get in. Sarah claimed that Rashford then collected the woman’s belongings and threw them outside and was taken away by security.

She said: “I told Marcus to come out and talk to her and he just said, ‘No, I don’t care’.

“He was so drunk at the time that he picked up his own bag and dropped it and all the money fell out. It was all £20 notes and big wads of them. I reckon it was between £8,000 and £10,000 in cash.

“Then he falls back into the wall and I have to somehow pick him up and put him on the bed. He was fully clothed and I guess that’s how he passed out. He didn’t even get under the covers.”

One of Rashford’s friends told Sarah she could sleep in another room, which she did, waking up at 9.30am. Then she sent a message to his guard and asked him what time he should go.

He told her that Rashford and his team had left at 5am and asked her if she had left anything in his room because they had not done the “cleaning”.

Sarah said last night that she was not surprised the footballer had since fallen into trouble, adding: “He was obviously on a mission to have a big night.

“It’s not like it wasn’t planned from the beginning. I don’t know how he didn’t realize he was going to be caught.

“Everyone was taking pictures of him on a night out.” A source close to Rashford claims the star returned to the hotel at 1.15am, had no cocktails and had less than £1,000 in cash.

Yesterday, Rashford and his agent brother Dwaine met with manager Erik ten Hague and United’s director of football John Murtough to discuss the deal.

The source added: “Marcus accepts his standards are far below expectations.”

Last night the club said: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter which is now closed.”
