Dwight Stone is a former NFL player. He and his wife, Jennie, have three children. All of Stone’s daughters are now grown, with the youngest entering her senior year of high school in 2024. His other two daughters studied design, one in printmaking and the other in fashion and textiles.
Dwight “Stoney” Stone is a retired American football player who played in the league for 14 years, from 1987 to 2000. He played three positions: running back, wide receiver and punt returner. Stone attended Middle Tennessee State and was an undrafted pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers (1987-1994).
He then played for the Carolina Panthers (1995-98) before finishing his career with the New York Jets. He was considered the fastest football player in the 40-yard dash ever coached by the late coach and Hall of Famer, Chuck Noll. Stone reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 4.20 seconds. After his retirement, he worked for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for 13 years.
Dwight Stone’s Daughter: How Many Kids Does He Have?
Dwight Stone was born on January 28, 1964. He is the father of three girls with his wife, Jennie Stone. His three daughters’ names start with “C”: Ciara (older), Cailin and Celena (younger). Even if his children were born with athletic DNA, they preferred art to professional athletics. Stone’s children are of mixed race as his wife is white American and he is of African American descent. Ciara, the oldest daughter, was born in 2000 and works as a graphic designer in Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from East Carolina University in 2022.
Cailin, the second child, graduated from Cuthbertson High School in 2020. She then attended the University of North Carolina’s Wilson College of Textiles, where she studied fashion and textile management. Her LinkedIn profile states that she works as a part-time associate in seasonal sales at Athleta. Celena, the youngest of the group, attends Cuthbertson High School (class of 2024). She is a member of the varsity girls lacrosse team at her school. Dwight’s daughters are all active on Instagram.
What are Dwight and his wife doing now?
Stone retired from the NFL after 14 seasons with the Steelers, Panthers and Jets until January 2001. He joined CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police) as an SRO in April 2002 and served 13 years and three months until his retirement in June 2015. Stone indicated that the first thing he wanted to do after high school was to join the US Army, after which he was to become a police officer. He seems to have completed one item on his list.
When asked about his decision to become a police officer during a Q&A session with Panthers.com in 2017, he stated,
“I wanted to become a police officer to give back to my community.” Because my first coach in every sport I played was a policeman.”
Dwight now works as a volunteer. He is involved in youth ministry at First Baptist Church of Weddington, NC, the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Monroe, and Florala High School, where he graduated. Jennie, on the other hand, works as a physical therapist at Core Studio Pilates. She previously worked with Carolinas Physical Therapy Associates (1995-99), Total Care Home Health Agency (2004-05) and Union Regional Home Care (2007-12).
