Passengers on the plane claimed that an out-of-control teenager lost her temper with a 10-year-old girl because she was coughing loudly.
Nadine, 39, from Reading, and her daughter Jernai, 19, who were on the plane from Antalya to Gatwick on Friday night (December 27), described it as an “escape from hell” which ruined their Christmas.
She told The Sun: “We went to Turkey for Christmas, where we had a really nice holiday at a hotel called Aska Lara.
“We were all nice and relaxed but then it turned into hell on the flight home. It ruined my Christmas.
“So this 16-year-old was about four rows behind me and she was sitting next to a girl who was about 10 and she started coughing and she told her to stop.
“The little girl went to the toilet, but the older one followed her to the toilet.
“The girl constantly had outbursts of ‘get out of my face’ and wouldn’t let her out.
“Then the mother came down, and the teenage girl shouted in her face.
“The mom and the girl were crying so the crew escorted the girl and her mom to the front of the plane to get away from her.”
FLIGHTMARES
Nadine said cabin crew asked the teenage girl to return to her seat – but she ignored them.

The mum said: “She just started shouting at the crew and then ran into the back of the plane.
“She was trying to open the door and broke the handle. Crew members pulled her and restrained her.
“All crew members surrounded her, but one tried to calm her down.
“She started screaming on the plane and threatened to stab a crew member.
“All this happened in the middle of the plane while they were trying to remove her from the door.
“I was in the front and she was running down the plane and I was watching her run down the plane.
“She flew towards the toilet door, but someone was coming out of the toilet.
“She ran into a woman who ran into the toilet and the pilot door suddenly opened.”
Nadine added: “At one point she took off her shoes and threw them at the passengers. Everyone was so nervous.
“People started getting upset and getting up. Eventually they managed to get the girl to sit down.
“But for safety reasons, the pilot had to announce that we would make an emergency landing and he landed the plane.
“The little girl flew with her mother and grandmother.”
‘ABSOLUTE HELL’
Nadine said she was angry the passengers were not given an apology after they were all kicked off the plane at Bari airport in Italy and taken to hotel rooms.
She added: “It was absolute hell. Easyjet didn’t care about us on the plane. They left us without water.
“The pilot was tired and said he had to land for safety reasons because the passenger had violated safety.
“We were asked to enter the airport, and when we landed, there were firefighters, service and police.
“The police started collecting statements, the girl who made the scene was arrested.
“You can imagine how upsetting it all was. It was just me and my daughter, I cried.”
Nadine said: “When we arrived at the hotel in Bari, we were horrified.
“When we turned on the water from the tap, the water was cloudy and we didn’t drink for hours.
“I came in and I was sick on the floor. We had two single beds, the bedding was dirty.
“The room was freezing cold with only a small radiator that didn’t even work.
“Don’t get me started on the bathroom with mold on the floor. The door didn’t even lock. There was a baby crying next door.
“The next morning I saw the hotel in the light – what a dump! There were broken windows and rubbish piled up.”
Nadine added: “Easyjet did not apologise. There was no compensation.”
“My daughter Jernai is 19 years old and she is afraid to leave again. She was traumatized by the experience.
“It ruined my Christmas, we arrived at 12.50 and I collapsed in my own bed.
“I’m sick because it was so cold in the room. I have asthma and COPD and I can’t go out and enjoy the rest of Christmas.
“My whole family went back to the Caribbean and I couldn’t see them because I was too sick.”
“NOTHING BUT STRESS”
Jernai said: “It was nothing but stress, I had a headache, I was really relieved to be home. I’ve never been so happy to be home.
“I don’t think I’ll go on vacation for at least a year after this because it scared me so much.”
She said she had emailed Easyjet but had yet to hear back.
Easyjet told The Sun: “Flight EZY8556 from Antalya to London Gatwick on December 27 was diverted to Bari.
“He was met by the police because the passenger on the plane was behaving destructively.
“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and acted quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers was not compromised at any time.
“While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior on board.
“As the crew did not feel fit to fly as a result, the flight was delayed overnight and was scheduled to fly the following day.
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.
“While this was beyond our control, we are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
“We did everything we could to minimize the impact of the diversion, providing hotel accommodation and meals.
“We have advised customers that we will reimburse all costs incurred.”
