Eknath Shinde was born on Sunday, February 9, 1964, in Mumbai (age 60 years 2024). His zodiac sign is Aquarius. He completed his 11th class in 1981 from Thanamangala High School and Junior College. He also studied at Thane Municipal Corporation School, Kisan Nagar and Rajendra Pal Mangla Hindi High School, Thane. Eknath Shinde dropped out of school after studying till eleventh grade to support his family. In the 1980s, while he was in the autorickshaw driving business, he was introduced to Shivsena supremo Bal Thackeray and Shivsena’s Thane district chief Anand Dighe, who helped him join the Shiv Sena.
Soon after joining the Shiv Sena, he was elected Shakha Pramukh from Kisan Nagar in 1980.
He then began launching numerous political and social rallies focusing on issues such as inflation, black marketing, and businessmen hoarding essential goods such as palm oil. He was detained by the police for forty days for participating in a rally in Maharashtra. – Karnataka border riots. In 1997, he was appointed as Corporate Director of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). In 2001, he was nominated as TMC House Leader and served till 2004. After the death of Anand Dighe, he was appointed as the director of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). In 2001, he served as the chief minister of Thane district. Under the guidance of Eknath Shinde, the Shiv Sena gradually captured Thane Municipal Corporation, Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation , Ambarnath Municipal Council and Bhadrapur Municipal Council rajah. In 2004, Bal Thackeray gave him the opportunity to participate in the assembly elections and he was elected as a provincial councilor from the Thane Legislative Assembly constituency with a huge vote advantage.
In 2005, the Shiv Sena appointed him as Thane district commissioner. He won consecutive Legislative Assembly elections in 2009, 2014 and 2019 and was appointed leader of the Shiv Sena legislative party and leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. Eknath Shinde was appointed as Public Works Minister in December 2019. He has also been given the additional charge of Chairman, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). In 2019, he was appointed as the health minister of Maharashtra, and soon he was recognized for filling 890 posts of MBBS doctors and specialists in various hospitals, enacting regulations for payment of salaries to contract workers under the national health scheme, setting up sub-district hospitals of dialysis centres, 60 dispensaries have been authorized under the ‘Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana’ scheme. He also founded the Mahavir Jain Hospital in Hajuri, Thane, in joint venture with the Thane Municipal Corporation and an NGO called Jito.
In 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Public Works (Public Utilities) Department and also held the charge of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. On June 30, 2022, he was sworn in as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
