Fall, About Climbers Stuck Atop a Tower, Is Getting 2 Sequels: ‘Taking It to the Next Level,’ Says Director

The stakes are getting higher because Drop becomes a trilogy.

On Tuesday, director and co-writer of the 2022 thriller, Scott Mann, confirmed that two sequels are in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mann will produce both, and write and direct the third entry. The outlet reported that the second film will begin filming in June.

“I’m delighted to continue Drop traveling and raising to a higher level. We have planned a truly special cinematic experience and I am extremely grateful to my fellow producers for supporting the vision,” said Mann, per THR.

“I’m also excited to be working with new collaborators, as well as reuniting with the original crew, and obviously can’t wait to get back shooting thousands of meters up.”

IN Drop, Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner starred as best friends Becky and Hunter, who together try to overcome their fears by climbing a 2,000-foot tall abandoned radio tower in a remote location. Things go wrong and they are stranded at the top, challenging their survival instincts.

The film also starred Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Mason Gooding.

Mann told MovieWeb last year that the inspiration for Drop came from his personal fear of heights.

Of the thriller’s story, Mann added: “At the heart of it is an element of grief after losing someone and then climbing and climbing again. I think there’s a resonance, a personal part, but a larger part, I would say, of what we’ve been through as a world in the last few year.”

That’s what resonates .”
