City was charged in February with a series of alleged financial frauds between 2008 and 2019.

The treble winners are however contesting their 115 charges and even suggested in May that KC who is handling the case could be biased because he is an Arsenal fan.

If they are found guilty, a financial expert has warned they could be relegated from the Premier League.

The former Man City adviser points out that the allegations against the current Premier League champions are much more serious than those Everton were found guilty of.

Depriving Everton of the points saw the club drop into the relegation zone, with Sean Dyche’s side only bottom on goal difference.

However, City could face an even bigger fine if they are also found guilty of breaching Premier League rules.

Following the news of Everton’s punishment, some rival fans even claimed that City would end up relegated from the Football League.

This would see them face sides such as York City and Bromley in front of crowds of less than 5,000.

One fan wrote: “If 10 points were deducted from Everton, Man City should be playing in the National League by the time their case is heard!”

Another added: “The Premier League has a chance to do the most ridiculous thing in history and take away 1,150 points straight away.”

Everton deducting points

EVERTON have become the first Premier League team to be stripped of points for breaching Financial Fair Play rules for profit and sustainability.

The Toffees’ ten-point hit comes after the independent Commission found that Everton had recorded losses of £124.5m under calculations of Premier League regulations over the three years to 2021-22. – which exceeds the permitted limit of £105m.

The Goodison Park club has recorded a financial deficit for five years in a row.

Manchester City are fighting 115 allegations of FFP breaches brought by the Premier League last season.

Only two clubs in the history of the Premier League have collected points.

Middlesbrough were stripped of three points in 1996-97. because he did not fulfill the schedule against Blackburn.

In March 2010, Portsmouth were deducted nine points for entering administration.

Both Middlesbrough and Portsmouth were relegated after penalty points.

The ten-point deduction drops Everton to 19th in the Premier League table, level on four points with bottom club Burnley.

A third fan reacted by commenting: “City must get treble.”

Meanwhile, another said: “By that logic, Man City should be relegated to League Two.”

But Everton fans didn’t see the funny side of their predicament.

One said: “This is totally cruel when the city has 115 allegations and nothing has been done about it.”

Another added: “Don’t take this lightly at all. File an appeal and get this OVERturned.”

And the third replied: “Relegation is coming 😭😭😭.”

The club said it would appeal the decision in a statement released earlier today.

They said: “Everton Football Club is both shocked and disappointed by the Premier League Commission’s ruling.

“The club believes that the commission imposed a completely disproportionate and unfair sporting penalty. The club has already communicated its intention to appeal the decision to the Premier League. The appeal process will now begin and the club’s case will be heard by an Appeal Panel appointed in accordance with Premier League rules in due course time.

“Everton maintains that it has been open and transparent in the information it has provided to the Premier League and that it has always respected the integrity of the process.

“The club does not accept the finding that it did not act in the utmost good faith and does not appreciate that this was a claim made by the Premier League during the proceedings. Both the harshness and severity of the penalty imposed by the Commission are neither a fair nor a reasonable reflection of the evidence provided.”

Everton’s sanction took effect immediately, with the Toffees dropping five places to 19th in the table.

They are the first Premier League team to be hit with a points deduction for breaching FFP rules.

The club were fined for breaching profit and sustainability rules after recording financial losses of £44.7m for the 2021-22 season – bringing their three-year total to £124.5m

That exceeds the Premier League’s threshold, which allows a maximum loss of £105m over three years, by £19.5m.

Three clubs are already planning legal action against the Toffees.

Leicester, Burnley and Leeds have been on the wrong end of relegation battles with Everton in the past two years.

And according to The Mail, they could seek as much as £300MILLION in damages – with each club estimating they have lost around £100million due to relegation to the Championship.

Everton are now back in the relegation mix after today’s penalty.

However, the supercomputer predicted the Toffees would SURVIVE.
