Fernando Alonso’s parents, Jose Luis Alonso and Ana Maria Diaz Martinez, have always supported their sons’ racing aspirations. Even Alonso’s father didn’t expect him to make it this far. Jose Luis Alonso often advised his child to be grateful for where he has reached in life. His mother Ana was constantly interested in his racing career despite having no racing experience. Fernando even revealed in an interview that his mother would sew his racing clothes, changing the size of his overalls as he matured. In a recent podcast, the two-time F1 champion spoke briefly about his family and their importance in his career.
During the interview, Fernando also said that if he could change one aspect of his F1 career, it would be winning the championship with Ferrari. The Spaniard joined Ferrari in 2010 but left without a trophy in 2014.

Jose Luis Alonso is a former go-kart driver who introduced his children to this sport. Alonso Sr. constructed a go-kart for his daughter Lorena, but since she was not interested, he put Fernando in it. And so began his passion for racing. Fernando’s parents saw the desire and started bringing him to training when he was three years old.
Alonso told CNN that the weekends were a nightmare for his parents. They would have to travel 10 hours with him to the race and then return home to be ready for work the next day. Fernando Alonso came from a humble background, and his family did not have the wealth of world billionaires or millionaires. in Oviedo, Jose Luis worked as an explosives expert, while Ana Maria worked in a small supermarket. Fernando Alonso previously said that his parents’ first advice was to stay humble. When Alonso made his Formula 1 debut in 2001, Jose encouraged him to enjoy the race as it could be his last.
Jose informed Alonso that if this was his last race, he could always claim that he raced in a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Alonso claimed during the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix that his father did not believe he would make it as a professional driver. And, despite it proving to be incorrect, Jose is happy with the result.
Problems with Fernando Alonso

In a 2018 interview, Fernando said that his concentration on athletics had left him without friends, family, free time, privacy, a wife or children. Formula 1 has had a history of disastrous partnerships. In 2006, Fernando married Raquel del Rosario, a Spanish singer and actress. However, they divorced five years later, in 2011.
He was later engaged to Lara Alvarez for 16 months until their engagement was called off in 2016. Alonso confirmed his divorce from girlfriend Andrea Schlager earlier this year, following his podium result at the Australian Grand Prix. Alonso met Schlager, a sports broadcaster with F1 experience, through their F1 contacts. Alonso revealed the divorce on his Instagram profile, hinting that it was consensual. The F1 driver also kept all his Instagram posts with Andrea. Alonso was supposed to be seeing another Spanish professional, Melissa Jiminez, two months after splitting from Schlager. Although they have not made their relationship public, the media believe they are.
