Florence Pugh Teams Up with Sebastian Stan and David Harbour in Marvel's Exciting Thunderbolts* Trailer

Florence Pugh leads Marvel’s next superhero team.

On Monday, September 32, Marvel Studios released the first teaser for Lightning*, with Pugh, 28, and David Harbor repeat theirs Black widow the roles of Jelena Belova and Alexei Shostakov. In the new film Jelena returns to her adoptive father Aleksei, feeling depressed after the events of that film and falcon’s eye.

Based on PIxies’ 1988 hit “Where Is My Mind?”, lightning bolts* finds many of its leading men – the film also features Marvel characters John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) – at a standstill in their lives.

By the end of the teaser, audiences also get a new look at Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is featured in the Disney+ 2021 series. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Her character seems to bring this new team together.

The official longline for the film describes thunderbolts* as “an irreverent team-up that includes depressed assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) alongside the MCU’s least expected group of misfits.”

The cast is rounded off by Sebastian Stan, who returns as a loved one Captain America character Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko and Hannah John-Kamen.

Marvel first confirmed lightning bolts* was in the works in 2022 and announced several cast members that September during D23, generating a ton of excitement from fans.

Pugh and Harbor teased the film to Marvel fans at San Diego Comic-Con during the studio’s presentation on July 27, where Pugh said, “they’re a joy to watch [this team of former villains] is that they don’t play well together.”

“The complexity of their relationship, we have to go to all these different levels this time,” Harbor added of working with Pugh again. “He’s got warmth and humor… but he’s a terrible narcissist. And she’s very dedicated to killing people… I’m really proud of what we’ve done.”

lightning bolts* is in theaters on May 2, 2025. Other MCU movies expected to be released in 2025 include Captain America: Brave New World February 14 and Fantastic Four: Getting Started July 25.
