Former Bachelorette Michelle Young’s Boyfriend Jack Leius Says Their ‘Foundation Is Undefeated’ (Exclusive) 

Michelle Young and Jack Leius are proud of their love story.

The former virgin and the former college football player made their debut as a couple on The Golden Bachelor wedding on Thursday night, telling PEOPLE what it feels like to take your relationship public.

“It’s a privilege to have my lady by my side,” says Leius. “It will be a good time. Tonight will be fun just celebrating love, but more importantly, just spending time with Michelle and meeting new people.”

Young, 30, announced her relationship with Leius, 26, on Instagram in October, and behind the scenes the pair have been around family. Until now, Young says, there have only been green flags.

“My mom and dad really love him. My family loves him very much. My nephews love him so much, and it was just an easy transition,” Young said. “And they always say that love should be easy, but communication, we really managed to solve everything. And when you’re in the public eye, we had to talk about a lot of things beforehand, and we had to talk about a lot of different things and be really honest with each other.”

One of the couple’s first tests was when their photos went viral – just days after they met, “I remember the first time they put us in a tabloid, I literally looked at it, like – it was after four days of dating — he said himself, ‘S—, Jack, we’re out there and everybody’s writing about us. They’ve seen us. There’s all these pictures. What do I need to know about you that I don’t know?'” Young recalls. “And he says : ‘Well, I got two or three speeding tickets and I’m asthmatic’.”

On the strength of their bond, Leius adds, “Our foundation is undefeated.”

Young people distributed roses on Bachelor 2021, when she found love with Nayte Olukoya. The couple ended their off-screen engagement six months after the series finale. “I’ll say this is not something I envisioned and I’ll leave it at that,” Young said of the split, speaking on Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast.

Olukoya issued a statement around the time they parted ways saying, “As we grow and learn, we also realize that sometimes someone you love is not someone you should spend the rest of your life with.”
