GARY NEVILLE has blamed an “optical illusion” for Newcastle’s win against Arsenal after recreating the controversial VAR controversy.
A Sky Sports pundit has conjured up a new angle to suggest the ball WAS in just before Anthony Gordon sunk the Gunners in Saturday’s clash with Prem.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta called the officiating “disgraceful” and “disgraceful” after a TRIPLE goal check went against his side.
The video assistant concluded that the replays did not offer clear evidence that the ball went out, nor that Joelinton fouled Gabriel or was offside.
Manchester United legend Neville’s intervention appears to have been welcomed by most fans.
The former England defender used an overhead camera to show that a ball close to the line could be in, even when it passed the line and didn’t touch it.
This is because the angle from above confirmed that part of the ball could still be sticking out over the line.
Nev stressed that he was not trying to prove whether the ball was out on Saturday – and was only commenting on the first stage of the VAR check.
He said: “In real time you see that distance between the ball and the line.
“We’re not trying to say the ball was in or out.

“What we’re trying to say is that VAR can’t make a decision to overturn a decision on the field – because it’s really clear that there’s an ambiguity. It’s an optical illusion. That ball is clearly in there.”
Saturday’s VAR had no such overhead view to assess.
Nev added: “Cut to the other corner – that VAR had to look at on Saturday… and I completely understand why they couldn’t overcome the on-field decision based on that first point.”
One viewer replied: “Arsenal fans won’t like it.”
Another agreed: “He has a perfectly valid point, but Arsenal fans will still find a way to hate.”
But the Gunners fan insisted: “The important thing is Joelinton’s foul and offside. Stop obfuscating the issues.”
And this verdict confirmed it: “If Arsenal are so wrong why are they trying so hard to convince us? Let’s get rid of VAR and get back to the game we love. I can live with human error. Let’s face it there will always be.”
But the fifth observer focused on Neville’s intense efforts to get his point across.
“Gary, you work harder than I’ve ever seen on the field,” he joked.
