Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was convicted of killing George Floyd, was stabbed in an Arizona prison, according to Associated Press.
A source familiar with the incident said AP that Chauvin was seriously injured after being assaulted by another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona. The prison is of medium security, but is understaffed, which causes a lack of security, according to the AP.
The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an unnamed inmate at the Tucson facility was attacked around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Convicted ex-policeman who knelt on George Floyd’s back during the murder was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison
