Hartford is where Rory went to school in Chilton and where Lorelai’s parents, Emily and Richard, live. This is a very wealthy and beautiful city, which has been compared to “City of Stars” in the play.
Lorelai has done a lot of amazing things in her time, but moving to Stars Hollow isn’t one of them. It’s only 30 miles from Hartford, so a Friday night dinner trip isn’t too far. When Rory goes to Chilton, she takes a 40-minute bus ride from Stars Hollow to Hartford.

In one scene, Luke recalls that Stars Hollow had “twelve stores… devoted to selling porcelain unicorns.” But according to roll calls over the years, there are far more than 12 stores.

Who named the star Hollow?

In the late 1700s, the American Revolutionary War broke out. According to Starfield historians such as Taylor, the war left a significant impact on Starfield.
The natives of Twelve Star Hollow held on to their Connecticut town, awaiting the arrival of the British, but they never did. To celebrate their bravery, reenactments are held in their honor every year.
Star Hollow has its own Liberty Bell
Stars Hollow has an incredibly cozy and warm feel to it. The people are friendly, the town is clean, the fall leaves look beautiful…it has a rich history that is fascinating. So rich in history, in fact, that the town has its own Liberty Bell.
In the town square next to the pavilion, fans found a sign detailing that Stars Hollow’s personal clock weighs 2,000 pounds. Strangely, there are no bells in the town square. If it weighs more than 2,000 pounds, it certainly cannot be hung in the exhibition hall!
Third Street has a rocky past
