Golden Bachelor: 3 Women Admit They’re Falling in Love While Gerry Feels ‘a Heavy Weight’ Before Hometowns

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Thursday’s episode The Golden Bachelor.

Hometown visits were big this week The Golden Bachelor.

Leslie and Ellen enjoyed their strong bonds with Gerry, while Faith continued to wonder where she stood after receiving a first impression rose on her first night.

“My feelings are surprisingly strong for Gerry, but at the same time, I feel pretty insecure that I didn’t get more time with Gerry because we’ve only been in our hometowns for a week and I’m in a tizzy at the moment,” she explained.

Host Jesse Palmer then revealed that only three ladies would be bringing Gerry home and the ladies realized that meant the group would be halved by the end of the week.

“Knowing that there are not four hometowns but three, I am very afraid. I want him to meet my family, my children [and] my friends,” shared Ellen. “It’s been a long time coming, but I desperately want it.”

Faith admitted she was “so excited” to be asked on a “once in a lifetime” date, while Gerry, 72, called her a “big question mark” as he wondered if their relationship could continue to grow.

“I really hope that today will reveal that the sky is the limit for a relationship with her,” he said.

Despite her fear of heights, the pair then took a helicopter ride over Los Angeles – and the Bachelor mansion – which made the other women jealous. Leslie said: “It was a bit unnerving. I think Gerry has been attached to Faith since the beginning and if he has lined up a once-in-a-lifetime date for her, then they must have a great relationship.”

“I think it’s hard because I’m falling in love with him. For women our age, it’s really hard to meet someone like that. I don’t want them to break my heart again,” the 60-year-old high school teacher added before later breaking down in tears.

The meeting continued with Faith and Gerry’s helicopter landing on a luxury yacht he called “priceless”. The couple then share a toast and kiss before discussing more serious matters.

The Washington native revealed to Gerry that music soothed her when she was living as a “homeless teenager,” adding: “I didn’t have a mother and a father.”

“So I’m just saying that the kind of childhood I grew up with — a lot of trauma — made me think that maybe there’s something in me that’s not whole,” she explained. “I feel like I’m happy [about] who I have become. I feel like I’ve created this successful life for myself and I’ve created wonderful children and I’ve loved every minute of it, but it wasn’t the norm.”

She admitted that the information was thrown back in her face after she shared the information with other men in the past. He assured that this would “never happen” to him.

“As for Faith, I felt a bit guilty at first because I felt she was only attracted to me because of the physicality, but after spending time with her today, it’s like it doesn’t matter,” Gerry told the cameras. “I’m really intrigued by her as a person.”

After their deep conversation, the date ended with Gerry giving Faith a rose before joining her in the boat’s hot tub.

Group date

Leslie, Susan, Ellen, Sandra and Theresa are invited to let their “inner child” out on a date night at the Santa Monica Pier.

“This is the most serious week because there are only two hometown roses left and it’s great not to be so serious,” Susan shared about spending time playing games and driving with Gerry.

After the ladies competed in mole-strikes, drove cars and, of course, rode the rollercoaster, Theresa, 69, reflected on the “amazing” journey she had with Gerry and revealed she was ready to share her feelings with him.

“We went through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I’m starting to fall in love with Gerry and I want to tell him tonight,” she said. “The last time I told a man that I was falling in love with him was my husband. I haven’t felt this in forever.”

The financial services professional began her conversation with Gerry by telling him that their relationship felt “so right” to her and explaining why she wanted to visit her hometown, explaining: “It would mean a lot to me if you could meet my family so you know who I am. I want them to know you and what I see in you and how excited I am.”

The New Jersey native finally admitted, “I’m really falling for you, Gerry, and I think we could work.” Gerry responded by saying he was touched by their conversation before they kissed.

Even though he didn’t say those three little words, Theresa was still convinced of their connection, “He didn’t say it, but he seemed to feel the same way. It will be worth the wait when he can finally tell me he’s falling in love with me.”

Gerry told Leslie, 64, that she was on his mind after their adventure date which left him bruised in “strange” places. She responded by telling him she “appreciates him” before clarifying where she stands after she’s had a “hard few days”.

She admitted it was “difficult” for him to see him go on a date with Faith because it “brings up a lot of past feelings from other relationships”. She added that she was “deceived many, many times”.

The fitness instructor then burst into tears, saying she felt like she wasn’t “chosen” despite him doing nothing wrong. He reassured her with a hug and told her: “I got you.”

After sharing a kiss, Leslie whispered to Gerry, “I’m falling in love with you,” and he replied, “You’re my girlfriend.”

After confessing her feelings in last week’s episode, Ellen also reiterated that she is “head over heels in love” with Gerry and shared that she wants him to meet her family and friends during his potential hometown visit.

The 71-year-old retired teacher left their conversation feeling “confident but scared” and admitted she would be “devastated” if she didn’t get the rose.

As their night on the dock drew to a close, Gerry decided he wasn’t ready to hand out roses, saying, “I know the decisions I have to make tonight and tomorrow at the rose ceremony affect many lives, it’s just my chest. It’s like a big weight. No I can do this. I can’t. It’s not something I can do. If I go another day and have a little more clarity, then I’ll take the day.”

Rose ceremony

Gerry opened the rose ceremony by talking about his decision to postpone who would move on hometown dates to a group date, saying, “I just wasn’t ready to share another rose. These roses mean I’m asking to enter your homes, I’m asking to meet your families so I spent an almost sleepless night wondering what to do. Believe me I know I now have the responsibility to hold your hearts in my hands.”

In the end, Leslie and Theresa got roses, while Ellen, Sandra and Susan’s trips ended a week without visiting their hometown.

Ellen immediately said she was going to “pass out” after discovering she was eliminated before offering to walk her out.

“It’s a very sad and terrible feeling that I have right now,” he said in front of the cameras. “The last memory of the night is obviously Ellen.”

Speaking to Ellen outside the villa, he said it was the “hardest” decision, adding: “You put yourself out there like I asked, you made yourself vulnerable and believe me I did everything I could to make the right decision.”

“I hope you stay positive because that’s who you are,” he added as she burst into tears.

“It was a real shock, honestly. I didn’t expect that. I was falling in love with him. I just thought he was the one, so it’s a little unnerving, but this experience is one of the best experiences of my life. I have much more optimism when it comes to love [and] the possibility of finding love at this stage of my life,” she concluded.
