Gordon Ramsay Says His Assistant Had to Dress Him After His Bad Bike Accident — Now He's Posing Shirtless

Gordon Ramsay opens up about the severity of his bike accident.

In June, MasterChef star revealed he was in a terrible bike accident in Connecticut that left him with badly bruised ribs and “looked like a purple potato,” he said at the time. “[I’m] most grateful for my helmet that saved my life.”

Now, in the October cover for Men’s Health UKRamsay spoke about how his injuries limited his mobility, even when it came to simple daily tasks like dressing himself.

“I couldn’t even put my fucking socks and pants on,” he revealed. “Justin [Mandel, his assistant]he dressed me in the morning. I felt like a freaking 95 year old. Asking a 30-year-old kid to put on my fucking underpants was embarrassing.”

Ramsay started looking like he used to again – for the feature he posed shirtless and in cycling gear. (You can read the entire interview at Men’s Health UK website now or in the new issue on sale from September 10.)

In Ramsay’s initial Instagram post revealing his accident, he posted a PSA for his fans to always wear a helmet when cycling. “It hurts me. It was a brutal week,” he said. “And I kind of get through it. But I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet.”

He also noted that the accident “really shook me up” and that he was admitted to hospital for treatment. “Honestly, I’m happy to be here,” he said.

In the first video, Ramsay filmed himself riding along the river bank. Then he turned the camera across the road and asked, “Where is he?” Then Oscar appeared, riding beside him on a blue bicycle with a helmet on his head.

“There he is!” Ramsay exclaimed. “You’re doing well, by the way,” he told Oscar.

The restaurateur then went through security with his son and asked him, “The helmet is on, the equipment is intact, yes?” Oscar replied, “Yes!” Ramsay then asked, “Eyes on the road, yes?” Oscar replied: “Yes!”

“Good boy… go,” Ramsay said, turning the camera on himself. “It’s so nice to be back on the bike.”
