In April, Berry was talking about the film at CinemaCon when she revealed that she had to “do a bit of method acting” to get into the role. She then shared that her character in the horror movie “ate bugs and frogs — raw frogs — in the woods,” and that she “really had to skin a squirrel.”

“These things challenged me wildly to create some reality in this world that seemed so alien,” she said.

PEOPLE previously reported that PETA confirmed that director Aja only used realistic-looking props in the production.
