“We really enjoyed being able to use the words husband and wife as often as possible,” he says with a smile. “We cheated and we snuck in a few before we actually got married. We’d call each other husband and wife now and then.”

Now that the bells are on and the paperwork has been filed, Brown admits, “Now we feel even more special and validated to call each other that way, and we’ve really enjoyed that part of it.”

Brown and Kountz first met while working on a Disney Channel movie in 2001 Halloween IIbefore romance began years later. Although she and Kountz “got along great” on set, the actress told PEOPLE in May that “there were never any romantic discussions, thoughts or feelings at that time.”

“We were strictly professional,” Kountz added.

After filming ended, the two remained friends, mostly in contact through social media. They reconnected in 2016 when Brown contacted her former colleague about a YouTube project she was working on. Eventually, the two met at a bar where they saw each other for the first time in more than a decade and began to “catch feelings” as sparks flew.

Almost two years after getting engaged in June 2022, the couple stood in front of 92 of their closest friends and family at the Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo, California and tied the knot on Friday, April 19.

Like Brown, Kountz previously told PEOPLE that he is very excited to finally call Brown his wife.

The Halloween Roles: Where are they now?

“I say, ‘Oh, yes, that’s my wife. That’s my wife over there. Here’s this ring right here. I married you.’ I’m very excited about it,” he said of Brown, whom he described as “the best friend and wife anyone could ever have.”

He added, “[I love] her determination when she has an idea — she acts on it, works on it and takes care of it. She’s like a force of nature, I can say that.”

As for Brown, the actress said she fell in love with Kountz’s heart and patient, caring nature. “He always has room for me, no matter what. That kind of unconditional love and care still amazes me,” she explained. “He’s my favorite person to sit on the couch with at the end of the day and just talk about stuff. We just genuinely love spending time together.”

While speaking with PEOPLE at 90s Con Florida, Brown also opened up about the possibility that she and her husband could rekindle their Halloween characters Marnie and Kal one day.

“I mean, fans have been asking me about it literally every day, and they always keep reminding us that Kal, in the second one, said he was going to come back and he never did,” she says of Kountz’s character in Halloween II.

“Fans are always asking about it,” she continues. “So, yeah, I think there’s a lot of different possibilities. I’d say Marnie would have liked to be in a leadership position in Halloween and he had ideas, so you know, he should be mayor now or run for mayor. The possibilities are endless.”

90s Con Florida runs through Sunday, September 15th at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
