Halsey drops a great new rock track ‘Lonely Is the Muse’ ahead of upcoming fifth album
The visual cuts to a series of clips of the “You Should Be Sad” musician, 29, wearing retro clothes and hairstyles as they reflect on who they might have been if they had careers in previous time periods.
“What if I debuted in the early 2000s? 90’s? The 80s? ’70s?” asks the voiceover of the “Colors” artist. “Am I still Halsey every time? Do I still get sick in every timeline? Am I going to be a mom?”
In the visual, Halsey plays artists representing different eras, including David Bowie and Britney Spears — the latter of whom they interpolated on their recent single “Lucky.”
The trailer also features clips of the three-time Grammy nominee’s unreleased tracks that showcase the aesthetic of different decades of music.
“If it all ended now, is that a person you would be proud to leave behind? Is that even you?” concludes Halsey.
At the end of the teaser is the headline: “‘The Great Impersonator’ a confessional concept album from Halsey.”
