Lily Gladstone Shares Leonardo DiCaprio’s Text Celebrating Her Killers of the Flower Moon Oscar Nomination

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of Lily Gladstone’s biggest supporters!

In a new interview with Extra published on Thursday, the 37-year-old actress revealed that she Killers of the Flower Moon costar, 49, was one of the first people to text her after she made history as the first Indian woman to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her role in the film.

“He was so proud, and then I told him I was watching with my parents and, ‘We’re celebrating me, but we’re also, like, collectively really mad at you,'” she said.

Many felt that DiCaprio was snubbed after being shut out of the Best Actor category.

“He did such an amazing job in this, and, like, he just made an impossible character so vivid, and it made it so much easier for me, so I really want to share this, this moment with him, but you know, he told me just before of the Globes, ‘Regardless of the outcome, I think you’re amazing and I’m proud of you,’ Gladstone told Extra, adding that DiCaprio is ‘the greatest actor.’

The Titanic The alum also dedicated a sweet post to her on his Instagram profile where he continued to highlight her recent success.

Flower killers Month A true story: all about the real events that inspired Martin Scorsese’s film

The Martin Scorsese-directed film is based on a true story, a western crime saga set in 1920s Oklahoma, according to a synopsis from Paramount Movies. In the film, Gladstone stars as Mollie Burkhart, a member of the Osage Nation who slowly watches as members of her family and community are killed after oil is discovered on their land.

DiCaprio plays her husband, Ernest Burkhart. The film also stars Robert De Niro as Ernest’s uncle, William Hale.

During an interview with Gladstone for Extra, she admitted that she was very close to giving up on her acting career just before landing her breakout role.

“I had my mom’s old community college where she went to teach, I had their website up and I had a course that I was focusing on, and I had my wallet in there with my debit card out, so I could start punching in the numbers” , she told the outlet. “I was on my computer doing that when I saw a little notification on Gmail that I had a Zoom scheduled with Marty [Scorsese].”

Gladstone admitted she was considering an entry-level position at the Washington Department of Agriculture tagging and tracking Asian giant hornets, also known as “killer hornets.”
