Hannah Ann Sluss and Jake Funk’s Sweet Engagement Photos: How He Won Her over by Not Mentioning The Bachelor (Exclusive)

Hannah Ann Sluss and Jake Funk are on the move, and closer than ever.

Bachelor star, 27, and her NFL running back fiance, 25, recently packed up their place in Indiana to settle in Florida after Funk ended up with the Indianapolis Colts last week to sign with the Miami Dolphins. But just before they left, the couple made sure to snap some sweet new engagement photos.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” Sluss tells PEOPLE of life with Funk, who proposed back in January. Since then, she’s been a mainstay at his games in Indiana. “It was great to know she was there on the sidelines,” Funk says.

The couple and their dog Dash posed for a romantic engagement photo in Indiana before the move, and say that despite all the changes at the moment, their relationship couldn’t be stronger. “He’s a really good constant in my life,” says Sluss, “all the things you’d want in a man.”

For Sluss, who made a name for himself as the winner of Peter Weber’s season Bachelor 2019 before they broke up on camera months later, she knew early on that Funk was different. After seeing her on TikTok – “a modern love story”, she says – the footballer made a great first impression.

“Our first date was at the Beverly Hills Hotel, which was like a dream,” she says. They were both living in Los Angeles at the time and “we had a great time, really got to know each other and things just took off from there.”

One thing that helped seal the deal: Funk wasn’t sniffing around her Bachelor days. “I knew she was on reality TV,” he says, “but it was something I really didn’t want to bring up.” Sluss adds, “That’s why he got another date!”

Funk continues, “I really just wanted to get to know her as a person. I’m not trying to date you because you’re on TV. I want to date Hannah, a girl from Knoxville, Tenn. This girl is everything I’ve ever wanted. Our future is not our past .”

As for wedding plans, “it will be next year, next off-season,” says Sluss. “All the main things are booked and we are very excited. It will be a destination wedding, in a place that is really special to us.”
