“The behavior of Mark Schwahn during the shooting of the film One Tree Hill was something of an ‘open secret,'” the women wrote in a letter in November 2017. “Many of us were, to varying degrees, psychologically and emotionally manipulated. More than one of us is still undergoing treatment for post-traumatic stress. Many of us were put in uncomfortable positions and had to quickly learn to fight back, sometimes physically, because it was made clear to us that the supervisors in the room were not the protectors they should be.”

“They spoke to many of us in a variety of ways, from deeply upsetting, to traumatizing, to downright illegal,” they continued. “A few of us have been put in positions where we feel physically unsafe. More than one woman on our show has had her career threatened.”

Schwahn has never spoken about any of the allegations, but was later removed from his role as showrunner for the E! Royal after a group of 25 female cast and crew members of the show released a joint letter claiming that Schwahn “felt inclined to abuse his power and influence in the environment in which he had it over women who felt they were not.”

“This manifested itself in the repeated unwanted sexual harassment of multiple female members of the cast and crew,” the letter reads.
