Home Alone Actor Ken Hudson Campbell Launches GoFundMe to Pay for Cancer Surgery

Ken Hudson Campbell, known for his role as Santa Claus in the 1990 holiday classic Home alonehe was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The 61-year-old actor — who also appeared in Armageddon and Groundhog day — was diagnosed with cancer on Oct. 27 and is now preparing for lengthy surgery to fight the disease, his family revealed.

“We need the world’s help to save Ken,” his daughter Michaela said on a GoFundMe page set up in his name. “The tumor grew out of control at the bottom of his mouth and began to affect his teeth.”

“7. December is scheduled for a 10-hour operation during which a large part of his jawbone, lymph nodes and part of his leg bone will be removed,” she explained. “Surgeons plan to reconstruct a new jaw for Ken from this leg bone, implant it and treat him with radiation. He will have a 6-month recovery period, after which chemotherapy may be required.”

Campbell’s family said he will likely be hospitalized for a week, requiring a feeding tube, skin grafts and a tracheotomy. They are also considering moving him to a facility later because he will need physical and speech therapy.

A GoFundMe account — which has already raised more than $65,000 — was created to help cover his out-of-pocket medical expenses while he recovers.

“Ken Campbell is a family man. A loving father of two with an admirable zest for life and a passion for acting, writing and sports,” the post reads. “It is possible that this procedure will affect his ability to work as an actor in the future. We are asking for your help so that Kenny can use the time ahead to recover and spend more time with family and friends. Every prayer, positive thought, dollar or gesture of support means a lot to our family.”

Several stars have since donated to Campbell’s cancer journey, including Steve Carell, Jeff Garlin, Tim Meadows, Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady, and more.

Last week, Campbell shared his diagnosis and GoFundMe page on Instagram, telling his followers, “I never thought I’d post this.”

In the comments section, the actor received tons of well wishes from fans.

“I send my best wishes for successful treatment and recovery. ❤️,” one person wrote, while another user added, “Love you Kenny and lots of prayers for you 🙏❤️.”
