A MAN beheaded an 11-year-old girl before stabbing her eight times in a random attack in Leicester Square, a court heard.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today charged with attempted murder.

Pintar is also charged with possessing a sharp object in a public place, which the court said was a steak knife.

The court was told that Pintar allegedly put the girl in the head before stabbing her eight times.

Heroic passers-by came to the girl’s aid, which prevented further injuries, it was said.

During the horror, she received wounds in the area of ​​her face, shoulder, wrist and neck.

The girl remains in hospital and is believed to need plastic surgery due to her injuries.

Pintaru, who is a Romanian citizen and used an interpreter, spoke only when asked for his name, date of birth and address.

He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on September 10.

The horror took place in a busy tourist center yesterday around 11.34 am.

The girl’s mother, 34, was initially thought to have also been injured, but blood from her daughter’s injuries was mistaken for her own.

Police said the suspect was not known to any of the victims and the stabbing is not currently being treated as terrorism-related.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, in charge of Westminster Police, said: “This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
