Nev Schulman met his wife Laura Perlongo through Instagram in 2015.
The Catfish the manager invited her to dinner and a motorcycle ride, and soon they started going out. About seven months into their relationship, in May 2016, Perlongo announced that she was pregnant in a blog post on ATTN.
“I knew right away that I wanted this child. I was strong. I was smart. I was full of love. I COULD DO THIS,” she wrote. “Nev was confident he would be great. HE COULD DO THIS! … we were optimistic and in love.”
Schulman and Perlongo got engaged around the same time they announced their pregnancy and welcomed their first child, Cleo James, in October 2016. The couple tied the knot nearly a year later on July 22, 2017.
Cleo served as flower girl and entered in a red car. “Marrying the woman of our dreams and having our beautiful daughter there with us? I am a very happy man,” Schulman told PEOPLE at the time.
The couple has since welcomed two more children, Beau in 2019 and Cy in 2021. Two years after adding his youngest to the family, Perlongo shared a birthday tribute to Schulman.
“Very generous with his time and love and efforts to fix broken lights and broken hearts. I knew all that from day one to be honest. But now I have to find out all the things I couldn’t have predicted,” she wrote. on Instagram. “My favorite person to hang out with. My favorite person to say ‘everyone come’ to … Everyone is so so happy to have you. Me the most. I love you, I love you, I love you.”

According to Perlonga’s LinkedIn, she went to Boston University to study social psychology and advertising. After graduating, she started working as a copywriter and later as a freelance creative director — she even worked briefly as a travel writer in the Netherlands.
Perlong’s work experience on the professional social media site lists collaborations with brands including Calvin Klein, Stella Artois and Target.
In addition to her day job, Perlongo has also appeared on multiple episodes of Schulman’s show, Catfish.
She married Schulman in 2017

Schulman and Perlongo married on July 22, 2017, together with their then-nine-month-old daughter Cleo. YouTuber Casey Neistat officiated the wedding and the groom’s wedding Catfish co-host, Max Joseph, gave the toast at the reception.

Schulman and Perlongo welcomed their first child, Cleo, on October 21, 2016. The new mom announced the news on Instagram.
“I don’t remember this photo being taken or anything in the last 24 hours, but bb girl finally arrived. Totally in love with 6lb 10oz Cleo James born at 6:01am this morning. She is everything,” Perlongo wrote.
The couple’s son, Beau Bobby Bruce, followed three years later on Jan. 9, 2019. “A perfect little twinkling of baby goodness. 7lbs 15oz. Beau and Laura are all smiles and cuddles and we couldn’t be happier,” Schulman wrote at the time on Instagram.
When the couple’s third child, Cy Monroe, arrived on September 25, 2021, Perlongo shared a candid photo of herself with the baby in the hospital and wrote, “nothing like it.”
On Mother’s Day 2024, Schulman paid tribute to Perlongo on Instagram.
“you are an endless source of (hot) water and happiness. somehow you blend nerd/guide/friend/teacher/troublemaker into the perfect blend of motherhood,” he wrote. “I always admire your patience and positivity. Thank you for taking such good care of us all, you are the best.”

In an interview with Hamptons Magazine, Perlongo discussed her views on work and motherhood.
“I think I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to work anymore, but the reality is I want to raise my own kids, which is a full-time job when they’re this young,” she explained. “So many women are working two days (meaning they work full-time AND are full-time moms) and I feel lucky to be able to choose between the two.”
Perlongo continued, “The best thing I can do is remember that balance isn’t necessarily day by day or week by week, but throughout your life. Did you make time for yourself and your family and your work when you should have?”

Perlongo and Schulman joined forces for We need to talk, ATTN series on Facebook Watch in 2017. They answered tough relationship questions, answered viewer questions and offered advice in the 10-episode series.

In January 2023, Perlongo posted on Instagram about a miscarriage, using nails as a metaphor for pregnancy loss.
“Damn, this manicure has been through a lot. I’m about to change, manicure that is, n feel a little sad to see it go. Maybe it’s obvious, maybe it’s not,” she wrote. According to the post, the couple waited until she was 14 weeks pregnant to share the news publicly.
“I guess it would have a different spin. I didn’t plan any of that. And if it happened to you, I’m just saying it happens a lot,” Perlongo wrote, referring to the pregnancy loss. “Just saying I LOVED THIS GD MANICURE. And an all too real fantasy of what could have been.”

In 2017, Perlongo revealed that becoming a mom made her realize how amazing she is on her own.
“It takes becoming a mother to even begin to understand and appreciate (and now adore) my own mother. Mainly because she was a regular constant for me,” she wrote on Instagram.
“A big smile every morning. A tickling hand every night. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Simple reassurance. Easy. Funny. Present. She never missed ONE recital, game, track or match. But she was just my mom,” Perlongo continued .
The creative director concluded by reflecting on how her mother’s parenting style inspires her own. “I can finally understand that being a constant requires a lifetime of incredible love, effort and patience and that there is nothing easy about it. She was by Schulman’s side while he was recovering from a bicycle accident

Schulman broke his neck during a cycling accident in August 2024 and narrowly avoided permanent paralysis.
“I’m happy to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, I’m predicted to make a full recovery,” the TV host shared on Instagram alongside photos of Perlongo and their children keeping him company in the hospital. “I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and small things before the accident, and now everything is moving forward.”
