Fan-favorite teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are equal on the scoreboard until the last four. CSK and LSG have a 97% chance of qualifying and all the fuss is about 4th place on the IPL 2023 scoreboard.
Finally, MI made it to the knockout round. Fans are expecting more intense matches in the upcoming IPL 2023 knockouts and finals.
IPL Playoff Rule 2023
- The top four teams of the IPL group after the tournament matches qualified for the knockout round. This becomes even more difficult after IPL 2022 has two more teams.
- The top two teams compete in Qualifier 1 and the two lower teams compete in Qualifier 1.
- The winner of Qualifier 1 will go directly to the final round, while the losing team will play against the winner of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2.
- Thus, all teams hope to reach the top 2 on the IPL scoreboard to have 2 chances of reaching the final round.

Road to IPL 2023 Qualifiers
- As of now, the Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians have qualified for the knockout stages.
- Fourth place in the table continued until the final championship match. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians most likely took the last place in the knockout round.
- Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished bottom of the table for most of the tournament, were long eliminated. PBKS and KKR soon after.
- RCB played their last game on May 21 but were unable to win despite Virat Kohli’s century of excellence.
- Rajasthan Royals has a chance to take fourth place in the unlikely event that both MI and RCB lose their last game, but even then, NRR will be the deciding factor.
- Unfortunately for RR fans, the team was eliminated after MI won the match against SRH. And since RCB also lost to GT, MI advanced to the knockout round.
