Iron Maiden Alum Paul Di'Anno's Cause of Death Revealed After Musician Died at 66

The cause of death of former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno has been revealed.

On Oct. 21, Di’Anno’s longtime label Conquest Music confirmed the news of his death at age 66 in a statement shared on social media that revealed he had been dealing with “several health issues” in recent years.

An official statement shared on Di’Anno’s Facebook page on Monday, November 11 with the permission of the late rocker’s family revealed that the cause of his death was a “rupture in the sac around the heart.”

“Dear fans and friends,” the statement began. “We have received permission from Paul’s family to bring you the news of Paul’s death once the results of the autopsy have been received.”

It continued, “His sisters Cheryl and Michelle confirmed the following: ‘Basically he had a tear in the sac around his heart and blood pooled inside it from the main aorta artery and that caused the heart to stop.’ Paul’s death was sudden and hopefully painless, may he rest in peace.”

The post was accompanied by a photo of Di’Ann’s friends and family who recently gathered to remember him.

“An In Memoriam show was held at Underworld Camden this weekend, attended by many of Paul’s fans, friends, colleagues and family members. With a magnificent musical set, his fellow musicians said a fitting farewell to their friend,” the statement concluded.

On Monday, October 21, Di’Anno’s death was announced in a statement from his record label, Conquest Music, which read: “On behalf of his family, Conquest Music is saddened to confirm the passing of Paul Andrews, known professionally as Paul Di’Anno. Paul passed away at his at home in Salisbury aged 66.”

It continued: “Despite serious health problems in recent years that have left him unable to perform in a wheelchair, Paul has continued to entertain his fans around the world, holding more than 100 shows since 2023.”

Iron Maiden also paid tribute to Di’Anna on social media with a photo of him with bassist Steve Harris.

“We are all deeply saddened to learn of the death of Paul Di’Anno earlier today,” the band said in a statement. “Paul’s contribution to Iron Maiden was immense and he helped set us on the path we’ve been on as a band for nearly five decades. His pioneering presence as frontman and singer, both on stage and on our first two albums, will be dear to our hearts. not just us, but fans around the world.”

Di’Anno was the lead vocalist for Iron Maiden’s first two albums in the 1980s Iron Maiden and in 1981 Killers. After struggling with drug addiction, Di’Anno left the band in 1981 and was replaced by Bruce Dickinson. However, he has fronted other groups including Gogmagog, Battlezone and his self-titled band, Di’Anno.
