Obviously, if you’re in the spotlight, you’re on the radar of people who want to know everything about your life. Martina Sablikova is in a similar situation. Fans are interested to know more about her companion. According to reports, Sablikova is currently not in a relationship. Furthermore, her instructor Petr Novak believes that in order to win gold, one must avoid falling in love. “You can have a boyfriend, but don’t fall in love,” said Novak. Everything changes when you fall in love; you can give up”. This could also explain why she remained unmarried and focused on her professional career. Or she could be great at hiding her secrets. However, during Martina’s 18-year career in skating and cycling, several reports of her relationship surfaced.
Martina Sablikova, a professional Czech speed skater, was born on May 27, 1987 in Nové Msto na Morav, Czechoslovakia to parents Milan Sablikova and Eva Sablikova. Sáblková won the Czech Junior Championships three times as a junior, in 1999, 2001 and 2004. She also set the junior world record in the 3000 m, finishing in 4:00.69. At the 2007 European Speed Skating Championships, she won her first major competition. Consecutive important victories continued Sablikova’s success. She also participated in the Winter Olympics, winning gold, silver and bronze medals.
Martina Sablikova’s relationship status: is she dating?
The great figure skater has been in the sport for about two decades, and today there are rumors about her dating. Martina is probably single now, with no evidence that she is in a relationship with anyone. No possible partners have been seen with her in recent years. Sablikova, on the other hand, was allegedly in a relationship and declared that she was satisfied. She also expressed her gratitude for having a boyfriend who understands her demanding schedule and guides it with kindness. However, love did not last.
For a long time, many people wondered if Martina Sáblkova’s boyfriend was her coach, Petr Novák, who is forty years older than her. With the speculations getting louder, they publicly addressed the topic in an interview and denied all the allegations. Rumors surfaced in 2011 that she was dating Czech hockey star Tomas Plekanec. However, none of them have confirmed their relationship. It was also speculated that she was dating Dutch speed skater Sven Kramer.
Controversy in Rio: Is she going?
As a world-class cyclist, Sáblková has long hoped to compete in the Olympic time trial at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Martina earned her place in Rio 2016 by finishing 12th in the women’s time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, United States in 2015. However, when the UCI released the list of countries that had qualified for the Rio 2016 event, The Czech Republic was not among them.
The UCI interpreted the qualification criteria so that the athlete must also qualify for the road race. She flew to Rio hoping the verdict would be overturned; unfortunately, the verdict stood, and she pleaded no contest. Many people, including Martina, were disappointed and thought it was unfair. She then went on to compete in other games. She announced her plans to retire in October 2026. Her agent modified her comments, adding that the Czech speed skater would most likely retire after the 2026 Olympics.
