Jameela Jamil Says She Won’t Succumb to 'This Era of Ozempic Heroin Chic': 'Curves Will Come Back'

Jameela Jamil speaks out against unhealthy diets and weight loss trends.

The actress, 38, shared a candid Instagram post on Thursday, Dec. 26, denouncing “Ozempic heroin chic,” a modern take on “heroin chic” — a 1990s beauty trend that glorified extreme weight loss and unhealthy habits. In the past, Jamil has spoken openly about her own journey to recovery from anorexia and eating disorders.

“A lot of people in my industry just take it for granted [Ozempic] going from slim to super skinny, finally achieving a docile physique that matches docile patterns…it was hard to watch,” wrote Jamil. “Especially for those of us who have battled eating disorders. Who are they really doing this for?”

She continued, “I plan on sticking with this cycle. The curves will come back. They always come back. Then they’ll disappear again. Then they’ll come back. I’m not playing with my brain, my heart, my bone density or my metabolism for a trend.”

The first slide in Jamila’s post showed her at what she described as the “peak” of her anorexia. Although the photo shows her unwrapping the chocolate, she said she was pretending to eat it, as well as “pretending to be happy. She was pretending not to be on the verge of passing out.”

The remaining two slides show the actress recovering from an eating disorder. In the second photo, she is posing in a bathing suit, looking happy and healthy. The third slide, a video, shows Jamil dancing in the water, enjoying himself while eating a piece of pizza.

“May I have the strength through this era of Ozempic heroine chic, in my industry, to continue this good work I have been doing on my brain during 2025,” read the text written over the video. “I’d rather leave this industry than be pulled back.”

Jameela Jamil says she’s ‘not nervous’ about calling out celebrities who promote weight loss products

“That’s why eating disorders and diets bother me publicly, because there’s so much talk about the dangers of a bigger body, and there’s almost no talk at all about the dangers of not eating enough, just too much,” she said.
