Jason Segel makes sure Hoda Kotb knows her time Today was appreciated.
Posting on the author’s Instagram topics Today on Wednesday, October 16 he showed Shrinkage The actor, 44, shares kind words with the daytime television host, 60.
“I’m going to miss you when you’re gone,” Segel said, referring to Kotb, who recently announced her departure from the NBC News morning show.
“I just want you to know — these interviews have been some of the best of my career, so I’m really grateful to know you,” he added. Kotb seemed genuinely moved by his words.

A teary-eyed Kotb replied, “Wow, thank you,” before standing up to hug her guest.
On September 26, the famed television journalist revealed that she will be leaving the program after 17 years hosting the show and a total of 25 years working for the network.

The emotional farewell was shared in a letter to staff explaining her “heart is broken” as she struggled to find the right words to say goodbye.
“I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s painful. And you’re all the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I feel that deeply right now. I love you and I, it’s time to leave the show,” he continued. Kotb.

Hoda Kotb announced that she is leaving TODAY early next year.

During the live episode that day, she shared that the reason for the big decision was to spend more time with her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 4, who “need and deserve a bigger slice of my time.”
Kotb shared that she will remain on the show until early next year.
After announcing her exit, Kotb spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how she knew the time was right to move on to the next chapter.

“I was kind of thinking, wondering, thinking about what I wanted this next part of my life to look like after I turned 60. And I love adventure, I love new beginnings. I’m an outgoing person, not an inbound person, and I was wondering, what does that look like for me?” she said.
It also touched on Hope’s medical crisis in February 2023.
“We are in a place where Hope flourishes. She’s improving, we’re monitoring her, and I think as time goes on we’ll get better at dealing with it, but we’re already seeing big differences,” Kotb told PEOPLE. “We have really excellent care, I have people who help us. I feel that he is finding a stable foothold.”

She weighed her options, but in the end she agreed to be with her girls, who are in second grade and kindergarten.
“It makes more sense to stay at NBC. I am financially secure and would have a secure job. I mean, why wouldn’t you? But I looked at my kids and I thought to myself, I wonder what am I missing?”
Kotb told PEOPLE that she wants to “fill her time with more of them.”
