Hours after Cartwright announced Thursday that the ex Vanderpump Rules star split, Taylor, 44, was spotted out and about in Los Angeles and told Page Six in a video interview that his split from his wife, 35, is “not a divorce.”

“We actually live together, we live in our home right now,” Taylor noted, referring to their shared home in Valley View, California. “We’re trying to figure it out. Everything is fresh and new.”

The TV personality also confirmed that the two have no animosity towards each other and that they plan to continue filming their new series together Valley should premiere this spring. “It won’t tear us apart. It is not evil or nastiness,” he shared. “It’s just two people on the 10-year mark in marriage and it could go one way or the other.”

Four years after they tied the knot in June 2019, Cartwright announced on Thursday’s episode of their When reality hits podcast that they were splitting up.

“A lot of you ask me about Jax and me and our relationship,” she said. “I just think it’s important to be real and honest with you guys because our life is definitely – we’ve shared so much with you guys. So I feel like… I don’t want to look like I’m lying or anything so I think it’s important that that I say.”

“I know I alluded to in my last podcast that a lot of marriages go through hard times,” she continued. “Yes, marriages in general are very difficult, and I had a particularly difficult year last year. Jax and I took some time and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for my mental health.”

The Bravolebrity noted that the split is “still very hard to talk about” and wasn’t ready to share specific details about it.

“I’m taking it one day at a time,” the podcaster added. “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now I’m focused on being the best mom to Cruz and I love you. Pray for us and everything will be fine. We’re fine.”

Over the years, Taylor and Cartwright have spoken candidly about the ups and downs of their relationship. The co-owners of Jax’s Studio City shared with PEOPLE in March 2023 that while some days are harder than others, it’s important to them to always work on their relationship.

“I don’t believe in divorce. My parents didn’t divorce,” Taylor admitted. “I don’t believe that. Marriage is a business. I’m not saying every day is amazing.”

“There are good days and bad days, but that’s marriage and that’s what makes your relationship stronger,” he continued. “We love hard. We fight hard. It’s amazing.”

Taylor and Cartwright first met in 2015 at a bar in Las Vegas. The couple briefly split after two years of dating in 2017, but reconciled on camera and later announced their engagement in June 2018.

After a year-long engagement, they married in June 2019 and later welcomed their only child, son Cruz Michael Cauchi, in April 2021, months after announcing their departure from Vanderpump Rules.
