JAY-Z is back — online and with new music coming soon.
The rapper, 53, quietly returned to Instagram on Tuesday at @jayz. Based on his first post, it appears the “Empire State of Mind” artist is back on social media to start promoting his upcoming new music.
Although few details have been announced, the official release of the upcoming film Clarence book confirmed that he will contribute to the soundtrack.
For his first Instagram post, the Grammy winner (whose real name is Shawn Carter) shared the trailer for James Samuel’s biblical comedy starring Lakeith Stanfield. He titled the post “The Book of Clarence, January 2024.”

JAY-Z is also among the producers of a film about a man living in Jerusalem who tries to capitalize on the growing influence of the Messiah. It is currently slated to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
At this point, it is yet to be confirmed how many songs the rap star will release on the soundtrack, if they will feature any collaborations, or when they will drop.
The founder of Roc Nation previously collaborated with screenwriter and director Jeymes Samuel on his 2021 film The harder they fallwhich JAY-Z produced and wrote two music tracks for, as well as his 2017 short film. Jay-Z: Legacy.
Currently, the “Part II” artist follows his wife Beyoncé only on Instagram. His page only contains a link to rocnation.com and his profile picture is a snapshot from the early days of his career.

The hip-hop legend recently reached a major milestone in his career. In July, he became the first black artist to earn at least 10 double-platinum solo studio albums.
The news comes shortly after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated its certifications, pushing the rapper’s 2009 album. Draft 3 to double platinum status and the creation of his album in 2003 The Black Album reach quadruple platinum status.
As part of a celebration of 50 years of hip-hop, the “Holy Grail” rapper was honored with an exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library titled HOV book. The exhibition, which opened in July and is free and open to the public until this fall, features archives, never-before-seen recordings, paintings, masters and more from the music icon’s entire career.

In a press release, the exhibit is described as “a tribute to Carter’s global impact as a musician, entrepreneur, philanthropist and disruptor.”
The statement continued: “It was also made as a surprise for Carter and as a celebration of both his hometown of Brooklyn and the wider hip-hop community around the world.”
Beyoncé and her and JAY-Z’s eldest daughter Blue Ivy, 11, showed their support at the opening of the exhibition in July.
