Welcome to The Blueprint, where we take apart the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and recreate them, piece by piece.
Today I regret fashion.
Earlier this week, Jennifer Lawrence (34) was seen on a date with her husband Cooke Maroney, and it caused mixed emotions: definitely I should have bought that red sweater that I once put back on the hanger. Because now, J. Law has stepped forward in one more time.
She was last seen wearing a $95 white T-shirt and a $275 red sweater from La Ligne. Underneath, she wore a fluid black maxi skirt and $890 shoes from The Row. None of the pieces in the pregnant star’s ‘fit’ were too tight or fitted, and if it was too cold wherever she went, she could always take the sweater off her shoulders and wear it as usual. How versatile!

Celebrities wear cozy cardigans almost non-stop, but V-necks are somewhat rarer. Something like this Amazon option is also a bit slimmer, so it could even be worn under another cardigan, as many customers have done. One said it was “like cashmere on the skin but not on the wallet” and noted that they “hold up well when worn and washed.”

There must be something in the air because it’s getting harder and harder to tell if celebrities are wearing skirts or pants. For example, Oprah just wore a pair of pleated pants that could also be mistaken for a skirt. In other words, the bottom becomes bigger and more elusive.
I’m a fool for a good maxi skirt, and I found one for under $40. It has both an elastic and a drawstring waist — the best combination, in my opinion — and the soft pleats are like those on casual pants. As for pants, wide-leg styles with “soft, fluid fabric,” as one reviewer described these Sweaty Betty pants, would be another great option.
Hanes Essentials T-shirt
Amazon
$11 $8 on Amazon
A white T-shirt is a good base for layering. This short-sleeve t-shirt from Hanes costs just $8 and is made from 100 percent cotton. It also has a wide neckline like J.Law and is not too boxy or cut. The small and medium are currently sold out, but they are still in stock in sizes XS and L-XXL.

I used to be such a sneaker lover, but there’s something so cute about it not tying shoes. J.Law’s loafers have a rounded toe, similar to this style from Birdies, a brand worn by Sarah Jessica Parker. In addition, they are designed with faux fur on the inside and suede on the outside.
Her shoes also remind me of ballet flats (another popular celeb trend), so I buy those for a bargain too.
