For her first look of award season, J.Lo chose the color lavender!
It might be the middle of winter, but Jennifer Lopez, 55, brought an early spring vibe to the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival, arriving at Diversity‘s Creative Impact Awards and 10 directors to watch at breakfast on Saturday, January 4 in a dreamy, purple dress.
At the star-studded event — where she was presented with the Legend & Groundbreaker Award Maid in Manhattan Costar Ralph Fiennes — Lopez created a bright pastel look with a unique sheer layer.
A sheer outer layer enveloped the actress, from the high collar to the very low sleeves and hemline, which touched the floor. She wore a simple halter top underneath.
For accessories, Lopez kept things simple, pairing a flowing lilac dress with a pair of clear heels and a small black and gold clutch.

She also kept things light with her makeup, with a high-gloss, rich blush, including a neutral, glossy lip; the warm, sparkling look of the eyes; and lots of highlights. For her hair, she opted for a half-up-half-down style, revealing a pair of crystal earrings, also in a shade of light purple.

At the festival, Lopez was not only a Legend & Groundbreaker award winner, but also one of Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch and a Creative Impact Award winner for her role in the film Unstoppablenear Emilia Perez director Jacques Audiard and Wickedis Cynthia Erivo.
In the film — which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 and hits theaters on December 6 — Lopez plays Anthony Robles’ mother, Judy. The biopic focuses on an Arizona-born athlete who was born with one leg as he establishes himself as a wrestling champion.

At the film’s TIFF debut, Lopez told PEOPLE that playing a character in a “dysfunctional and unhealthy” relationship in Unstoppable was cathartic.
“Women who are mothers enter relationships, and you struggle with them and find yourself in a dynamic that is not healthy, but you care about the person, you love them,” she said at the time. “It’s that complicated dynamic of life that I understand very well.”
But many other elements contribute to her connection with Judy, she told Diversity in an interview published on January 1. Both are Latina women who grew up in the United States, both had children they wanted the best for, and both had to go through difficult relationships while still putting family first.

Lopez sees herself and her character as “soulmates” and noted the women’s ability to use strength when needed.
“Women are strong. We have to be,” she said Diversity. “From the moment women are born, we always have to prove ourselves, show that we are good enough. It creates a kind of strength.”
