“It just had to be done,” MTV star Laverne Cox said during a joint interview with costar Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.
Jenni “JWOWW” Farley shows promise Jersey Shore fans will be delighted with the highly anticipated reunion of Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro this season Family vacation.
The MTV star and her co-star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino chatted with Laverne Cox at Sunday’s 2024 People’s Choice Awards. Farley, 37, told fans to expect sparks when the former love reunites this season, teasing, “When you i say your jaw will hit the floor, your jaw will hit the floor. I’m getting chills right now.”
She added: “It just had to be done. We all had to live under the house together, it just had to be done.”
Sorrentino, 41, spoke out, admitting that as a fan “he wants to see what happens” when the exes reunite after 10 years apart.

Giancola, 36, and Ortiz-Magro, 38, had a difficult relationship during their first six seasons Jersey Shore. Their five-year romance included an infamous cheating scandal in which Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Farley wrote an anonymous note to Giancola informing her of Ortiz-Magro’s infidelity.
In 2014, Ortiz-Magro confirmed to PEOPLE that she was no longer with Giancola.
“I still care about her,” he said, adding that he’s not ready to get back together. “She’s a great girl, but we were drifting apart. It was the best.”
PEOPLE has exclusively presented the supertease for the final season Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which featured Ortiz-Magra dropping off her bags at the actor’s cottage. Returning as a main cast member after taking a hiatus from the MTV show to seek mental health treatment, Ortiz-Magro stated, “I feel like this is where I belong.”
As the cast, including Farley and Polizzi, 36, lined up to hug the return of Ortiz-Magro, Giancola remained seated and later asked, “Do I live in Twilight Zone?”

At last season’s reunion, The Family vacation the cast discussed Ortiz-Magro’s return to the series as a regular. Sorrentino said they “didn’t know” that Giancola would be returning to the franchise for a seventh season, but when they found out, “it was a scramble to try to maneuver this very delicate situation.”
Giancola was “grateful” that her castmates did not reveal the news to her. “It would be so bad if they did,” she said.
Following the news of her appearance in season 7 Family vacation, Giancola told PEOPLE she “wouldn’t have come back” if she had known Ortiz-Magro would be there. She said she thinks of her ex as “just some guy” she dated in her 20s, but looks back on her Jersey Shore stint gently.
“I wouldn’t want it to change. It’s part of my life. It’s surreal,” she said.
