Joan Vassos Ends Golden Bachelorette Journey with Sparkly Engagement Ring Boasting 58 Diamonds (Exclusive)

Joan Vassos made Bachelor Nation history when she joined as the first Golden Bachelor. So of course her engagement ring had to be one for the books.

IN The The Golden Bachelor season finale, which aired Nov. 13 on ABC, Joan, 61, said “I do” to contestant Chock Chapple, who proposed with a custom Neil Lane Couture diamond ring.

Specifically, her new blister is a handcrafted emerald-cut diamond platinum ring complete with two pointed diamond baguettes surrounding an incredible 56 round brilliant-cut diamonds, arranged in Lane’s style.

In total, the sparkler weighs 4 carats. It also features Lane’s signature signature design staple for the famed jewelry designer, who has created memorable custom pieces for Bachelor franchise for decades.

“To celebrate their future together, I knew exactly the ring design that would perfectly symbolize Joan and Chock’s undeniable connection,” Lane tells PEOPLE.

During the creation of the ring, Lane, who met Joan before her debut on The Golden Bachelorhe was inspired by the bride-to-be’s “sophistication,” “elegance” and her “integrity,” a characteristic he said she really showed when she made an unpredictable exit as a season one contestant The Golden Bachelor in the third week, because of a family matter. “I wanted to make a ring that was really classic,” Lane explains, adding that he didn’t necessarily want to go overboard with the diamonds (though he reveals that Joan’s stone is one of the “bigger rings” he’s made), but rather showcase the gems on an elevated “harmonious ” way. It also drew some influence from the Art Deco period of the 1920s.

Chock was “mesmerized” by the design, Lane explains, and knew it was the one.

“He looked at the ring, thought of her,” he says. “It was just one of those things that was kismet. I think he understood the vibes and the energy that went into that ring.”

Lane has nothing but love and well wishes for the couple as they embark on a new chapter together.

“The stunning beauty of this ring perfectly sums up Joan’s journey as the first Golden Bachelor, and I wish her and Chock nothing but the best as they embark on the next phase of their relationship together,” says Lane.
