Jon Bon Jovi ‘Still Recovering from a Major Surgery’ and Unsure When He’ll Tour: ‘Working Towards That Goal’

Jon Bon Jovi is putting his health first before announcing any tour plans.

As Bon Jovi prepares to release their 16th studio album, Legendaryin June, the band’s frontman, 62, is considering whether it’s in his best interest to hit the road again after undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022. In a radio interview with Mix 104.1 Boston, the rock star explained that he’s “still recovering from major surgery “, but the “goal” is to go on tour after being able to give the fans the best performance possible.

When asked about plans to promote his upcoming album on the road, the Grammy winner admitted, “I don’t know about the tour. I’d like to tour next year, but I’m still recovering from major surgery.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also opened up about how he’s been treating it, now that it’s been over a year and a half since he had vocal cord surgery because one of them had “atrophied.”

Jon said: “Even though I’m well on my way to recovery and I was able to take the time to work on a song the day I recorded the record, my need, want, desire is to be able to work two-and-a-half hours a night four nights a week for months on end .”

“And so I work towards that goal,” added the musician.

The “It’s My Life” singer first publicly revealed that he underwent major vocal cord surgery in mid-February at a Television Critics Association press event for the upcoming Hulu docuseries about his band, Thank you, good night: The story of Bon Jovi.

During the panel, Jon revealed that one of his vocal cords was “thick as a thumb”, while the other was “atrophied” and “thick as a little finger”.

So, the strong pushed the weak aside, and I didn’t sing well, he said. “They were taking away my craft.”

Jon explained that he was introduced to a surgeon who was able to give him “the ultimate umbilical cord reconstruction implant.”

At the time, after 19 months in rehab, he said: “I can write you a song, I can perform as well as anybody else. But I have to get my tool back.”

The band, which also includes keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X and bassist Hugh McDonald, was on a final tour in 2022, playing major stadiums across the United States.

Bon Jovi have also played shows over the years in support of 2016 This house is not for sale. After the release of the album, the group embarked on a series of live shows around the world that lasted from 2017 to 2019.

The group “Livin’ On a Prayer” will release a new album soon Legendary, which is due out June 7 via Island Records. The classic rock group also shared the title track when announcing the project.

The new album comes at a time when the band is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

To coincide with the milestone and new record, Thank you, good night: The story of Bon Jovi coming to Hulu on April 26. The first documentaries about the iconic group, made entirely in collaboration with all former and current members, are said to include behind-the-scenes insights into their rise to fame.
