Cajal has practiced law for more than eight years. Kajal was involved in a high-profile criminal case in 1993, when she and her legal team defended Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Mumbai blasts case. They successfully secured bail for the actor, and Cajal subsequently gave up her practice after more than eight years. In an interview, Kajal spoke about why she left the industry after Sanjay Duttand said:
I was tired of running back and forth between Arthur Road Prison and home. too tired. This isn’t for me. I don’t know if I gave up on the law or if the law gave up on me, but what happened is that after Sanjay’s (Dutt) case, I was so tired that I took a break… and never went back. I just find the system takes too long and I’m someone who likes to see quick results. So I found time to experiment. “
Kaajal Anand in an interview about giving up her practice said that she was tired of her job and further added,
It’s a cliche, but I believe justice delayed is justice denied. I don’t have the patience to wait years before making a judgment call. In this country, men are released on bail after roasting their wives in a clay oven. I don’t want to be in a position where I’m representing someone who’s been accused of rape…and getting away with it. I gave up before my illusions were shattered. “

Kaajal Anand co-founded a fashion boutique ‘Reverie’ with her friends fashion designer Manish Malhotra and businesswoman Avanti Birla. There, she served as operations manager. Reverie was headquartered in Walkashewar, south Mumbai; however, it collapsed. In an interview, she talked about how she was unable to work there, saying:
If you saw me, you would know that fashion is not my area. I was a misfit. When you’re not passionate about something, you can’t play the role well. “
Later, she launched Yantra, an ultra-luxury furniture store named Yantra Furniture And Accessories Private Limited, in partnership with Avanti Birla. After observing the increasing number of furniture stores in the market, Kaajal ventured into skincare and launched a medical spa called Evolve, a collaboration between Yash Birla Group and Pacific Healthcare. In an interview, she talked about turning her ideas into reality, saying:
I’ve been thinking about this idea for a long time. I travel a lot and understand the Western perception of plastic surgery; it’s very casual. But it’s still a big thing here – people have this fear. There’s also a lot of misinformation out there and a lot of quackery. “
Kaajal Anand has been appointed as a director of several private companies, including Birla Lifestyle Private Limited (February 16, 2001), Birla Concepts India Private Limited (March 17, 2002), Global Entertainment Private Limited (December 15, 2007 Japan), Deja-vu Entertainment Private Limited (December 15, 2007) and Pinnacle Wellbeing Private Limited (April 16, 2012).
