Yes, Karnataka Bandh 29th is called by pro-Kannada organizations led by Kannada Chaluvali group. Even today, Bangalore is witnessing a bandh in protest against the government’s decision to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. According to media reports, the Karnataka Joint Management of Primary and Secondary Schools (KAMS) has supported the Karnataka bandh and schools and colleges are officially closed today: 26 September 2023.
Karnataka schools closed: Taxi services suspended in support of Bandh
A national bandh was declared as a protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. Taxi services like Ola and Uber will not operate on September 29, 2023 in support of the bandh. Therefore, it will be difficult for people to travel to work.
Public schools and colleges will close only after an official announcement. Some private schools even plan to conduct online classes during this period. Parents and students are advised to contact school authorities for closure notification.
Karnataka schools closed: Why Karnataka bandh on Fridays?
Various farmers across Karnataka are protesting as the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) ordered the state to release 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu over 15 days (implemented from September 13).
Then the Supreme Court denied interfering with the CWMA order. Hence, the disappointed activists and farmers called for a strike in Mandya.
