Kate Hudson Has an ‘Archive’ of Past Red Carpet Looks: They’re ‘a Piece of My Personal History’ (Exclusive)

Kate Hudson is not one to let a good look go to waste.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 44-year-old actress says she has an “archive” where she keeps safe the outfits she’s worn to prestigious events over the years.

“I save them all. I have a very extensive archive at this point,” says Hudson. “Not all that I’ve managed to keep over the years, but the ones that I have [can]and the ones that are on order and all that, I keep close to them.”

“It’s also the moments in your life, depending on the projects you’re working on or what you’re promoting, that are really part of my personal history,” she adds. “So holding them is kind of a retrospective of the art I’ve made over the years, and it’s really interesting to look back on it.”

Right now, Hudson says she hasn’t reached into her extensive archive to re-wear or throw out any of her past looks.

“I haven’t dealt with them, but when I bring all those clothes out … it’s going to be really amazing to think about the things that were going on at the time,” she says.

For the mother of three, she adds that the outfits she’s worn to previous events — including movie premieres and award shows — aren’t just a piece of clothing, but much more.

“I really see them as works of art, fashion,” explains The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star. – I really want to.

Reflecting on her past wears over the years, Hudson tells PEOPLE that she has no fashion regrets.

“You know why? Because I love fashion and everything I’ve ever worn has always come from a creative place for me,” she says.

“I never look back and regret those decisions,” continues Hudson — who recently partnered with commerce platform Rakuten.

The star adds: “I think there are things that other people may have thought were not their favorite, but as for me, I have always worn and choose to wear what makes me feel good and how I like to express myself.”
