Katie Couric Is Going to Be a Grandma! Watch Her Shocked Reaction to Her Daughter’s Pregnancy Reveal

Katie Couric has news she’s dying to share — she’s going to be a grandmother!

The veteran journalist, 66, just announced that her daughter Ellie Monahan, 32, is pregnant, sharing the moment she first found out Ellie was pregnant.

Along with Couric’s other daughter, Carrie, 27, Ellie broke the news to her mom before the trio attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour earlier this year.

Before heading to the concert, Ellie and Carrie participated in one of the tour’s most popular traditions, bringing beaded friendship bracelets to exchange — and used the accessory to tell their mom Ellie was pregnant.

On Sunday, Couric posted a video of the moment, which appears to have been recorded by Ellie’s husband of two years, Mark Dobrosky.

In the sweet clip, Carrie gives her mom a bracelet and her ex Today the anchor thinks out loud as he tries to decipher what it says (“brand, brandy, B, grandma…”) before saying what the beads actually say: “Future grandma.”

Still laughing at her attempts to decipher the bracelet’s message, Couric’s face goes blank as she realizes what the message means.

Then Ellie says, “I’m pregnant,” and her jaw drops.

“You are?” Couric says, covering her mouth, seemingly in shock. “Woof.”

After the mom-to-be asked Couric if she was “freaked out,” the reporter said “No” and laughed again.

In the caption, Couric wrote that she was “dying to tell” her followers the good news.

“This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!’” she wrote, adding the hashtags “#omg #omg #omg #omg #needmy🤓.”

In her post about the concert, Couric — the vocal Swiftie — kept the news under wraps, instead writing that the concert “was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m so glad I got to share it with my girlfriends who each have a Ph.D. in swiftology.”

“They know every word to every song and every designer that Taylor has worn. We felt so lucky to experience this together,” Couric added.

Ellie married Dobrosky over the weekend of July 4, 2021, two years after the couple announced their engagement.

After the wedding, Couric wrote a sweet tribute to her daughter on Instagram.

“It seems like just yesterday that Ellie was crawling up my body like a little gymnast doing somersaults off my shoulders,” she wrote alongside several photos of Ellie.

“When she wouldn’t take off her Belle dress – never. When she had her wisdom teeth pulled and was so wobbly she called the dentist to lunch. When she would spin a volleyball before service. When she started college where she met a wonderful guy named Mark. When she moved to LA for graduate school…and became a successful TV writer. And so on.”

“It went by in the blink of an eye and today Ellie is getting married to her beloved Jersey boyfriend,” Couric continued. “My heart is full of unbridled happiness for both of them and for all of us who come to celebrate their love and life itself.”

In the same post, the journalist also referred to her late husband Jay Monahan – Ellie and Carrie’s father, who died of colon cancer in 1998 – writing: “Jay would be so proud.”

“Here is love, this is joy, this is the future. ❤️,” she finished.
