Kavita tied the knot with her best friend, businessman Ronnit Biswas, on January 27, 2017. They got married at a Shiva Parvati temple in Kedarnath.
In an interview, she revealed that Kavita and her husband had mutually decided not to have children. She said,
I don’t want to be unfair to my children. If I have children in my 40s, when they are 20, we will already be at the age of retirement. I don’t want our children to have to take care of their elderly parents in their 20s.”

She was in a relationship with Indian actor Karan V Grover. The two participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye Season 3 as a couple. However, the relationship did not last long. Kavita Kaushik started her acting career with the Hindi television serial Kutumb in 2001. She played the role of Sakshi Malhotra in the serial. The serial was aired on Sony TV.
She subsequently appeared in various Hindi television serials such as “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii” (2001; Star Plus), “Kohi Apna Sa” (2002; Zee TV), “Kahani Terrii Merrii” (2003; Sony), “Ruby Duby Hub Dub” (2004; Sahara One) and “Saarrthi” (2005; Star Plus).
She rose to fame with her role as ‘Chandramukhi Chautala’ in the SAB TV Hindi drama serial ‘FIR’ (2006-2015).

In July 2024, she spoke about the Indian television industry and said that she decided to quit the industry due to its regressive content. She said,
The kind of regression we show on reality shows and TV serials makes people hate each other. I was part of it and I am deeply sorry for it. I have contributed to this regression in a way. I don’t agree with what they show on TV. Jo bhi bolo, hum Indians hain and hume lagta hai jo TV par dikh raha hai vo sach hain (At the end of the day, we are Indians and we believe that what is shown on TV is the truth). We are subconsciously inspired by it.”
