Kelsea Ballerini is 30 years old, flirtatious and thriving at the MTV Video Music Awards – and her beau Chase Stokes is by her side.
Country star and Foreign banks the actor, 30, appeared in red-hot outfits, she in a custom silk Mônot halter dress with a center neckline and an open-back silhouette, and he in a long blazer over a black shirt (left unbuttoned to reveal skin), white trousers and black loafers.
Speaking to MTV ahead of the ceremony, Ballerini said the couple’s coordinated look was her idea, with Stokes adding that the moment happened by accident.

This year’s show also serves as a birthday celebration for Roll out the welcome mat the artist, who celebrates her 30th birthday on September 12.
“It’s too much to really process if I’m being honest with you. I’m overstimulated in every way. To be able to perform at an all-genre show like this and represent country music (hopefully well) but also myself — I feel like this was so big year in my personal life and my career and I’m really happy to present it tonight. My mom is here, my man is here, my friends are here. I’m happy.”

Although the 2023 awards ceremony marks her VMA debut, the singer-songwriter is no stranger to awards show style. In April, when she co-hosted the CMT Music Awards with Kane Brown and set the mood as host with a series of fun looks.
Ballerini not only hosted, but also performed at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, where she took the stage to perform her song “If You Go Down,” backed by several RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants, sending a message about the law against skimming.

After walking the VMA red carpet, the singer will also perform, gracing the MTV awards stage for the first time.
She teased her VMA debut with a celebratory Instagram post earlier in the week.
“With them, THIRTY to life would go faster 🫶 now let’s *officially* usher in this next decade on Tuesday at the VMAs, shall we?!” the singer wrote a post before her birthday.

The “Half of My Hometown” singer will share the VMA stage with musicians including Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Lil Wayne, Måneskin, Olivia Rodrigo, Anitta, Stray Kids and host of the ceremony, Nicki Minaj .
Global icon award winner Sean “Diddy” Combs and video vanguard award winner Shakira will also perform later in the evening.

The 2023 MTV VMAs air live from The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday, September 12 on CBS and BET, BET Her, VH1, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV , MTV2, Nickelodeon and Paramount Network. Viewers can also watch the show via the MTV.com live stream or on Paramount+.
